La Lobera Tours

This is a lovely property. We’ve stayed here four times over the years and would gladly return. The basic amenities are there, and the staff has always been very kind. Two things are worth mentioning. First, there is currently construction taking place, and unfortunately it isn’t quiet. Perhaps this should be reflected in the room rates while the work continues. If this was disclosed somewhere and I missed it, I apologize. My bigger disappointment, especially as a returning guest, is the restaurant. We used to love eating here because it was convenient, affordable, and the food was excellent. Breakfast is still great and reasonably priced, but dinner has changed significantly. We had dinner twice. The first night was okay, even though we didn’t love the food. The second night was very disappointing. The tlacoyos were hard, seemed old, and were extremely simple for the $15+ price. The carnitas were also tasteless. Our other dish included steak and two enchiladas. The beans tasted as though they were close to spoiled, the enchiladas seemed like rolled tacos that had been sitting for some time, and the steak did not seem freshly prepared. It was overly seasoned and very tough. With a bottle of wine, dinner came to about $96 before tip. I understand this is a hotel restaurant in an expensive area, but at that price, the quality should be considerably better. We still really enjoy the property and would return, but next time we’ll have dinner elsewhere.

Great overall experience! First off the customer service was fantastic. It wasn't busy while we were there since it was mid week but the staff was friendly and attentive even with Whatsapp messaging. Room was clean and while a little small was comfortable and smelled nice. Only things I would critique was our parking in cabin 1 was a bit tight to get out, there was no shower door so water splashed out into the rest of the bathroom, and the TV was a projector so all windows had to be covered to watch. Not really big deals since we were there to go eat and drink wine. The included breakfast was fantastic. Chilaquiles and omelettes were yummy. The pool was small but we were the only ones there so was perfect. The grounds were well kept and beautiful and easy to navigate. All the wineries were about 10-20 min away so good location. Would give 4.5/5 stars. Great place for the price and would go back.
