The owner changed the listing on homeaway as soon as I called her after we pulled up to the house, letting her know we were very disappointed that she false advertised this place! It is no where near the water. You can NOT see the river from the house, its about 2 football fields away and there are 2 other homes blocking your view. After refusing to refund the money, she argued with me through text messages, saying that we had assumed too much and that she was sorry that it was not what we had “made up in our minds” for it to be. We had also prepaid for a boat rental for 2 days and she refused to reimburse any of the money for the boat to make up for the false ad! Upon entering we noticed the ac did not work, the ac filter looks like it hasn’t been replaced in a year with at least 2 inches of debris packed on it, the dining room table is falling apart, the fence is starting to fall down and there are multiple broken outside chairs. I called home away and they contacted the owner who said someone would be out that night to fix the ac. No one ever showed except the maid to bring a new ac filter! Bright and early on day 2 with no ac, I started calling home away again to get a refund or something so we could go elsewhere. We had children, an infant and 2 disabled people plus pets. On one of the many phone calls to home away the rep. connected the line with the owner and after telling her about everything that is broken, she had the nerve to say it wasn’t like that before we showed up, luckily I had contacted homeaway the day before, immediately after walking through the house and had sent them all the photos! She did offer to refund only 2 nights IF she could rebook it for the weekend. I was not willing to make that deal knowing the listing is fraud and we still had no ac! On the last call to homeaway the rep told me I should have contacted them first and I would have received a full refund due to false advertisement and fraud. So do NOT contact the owner, she will NOT do anything! Also the house is 2 bedrooms not 3, the dock is not private, people who are not renters drive up to the dock to fish, as well as to use the fire pit. There is no management on the property to inforce the rules. The boats need cleaned and one is missing the motor cover. Im sure the owner will respond to this review and say whatever lies she wants to come up with, but I want the public to know they are being deceived!
