"Rough night with fire alarm going off then power went out from 12:30 am until 5:30 am on on one of the coldest nights! Pretty sure others will give a bad review but these are unavoidable issues and the hotel did what they could. Breakfast was still served and I got on my way at 6:30 am to start my day! PS shower was hot too!!"

"The room was clean, shower was well pressurized (occasionally took a minute to heat up, but soon enough I was preparing for the fires of hell), and the breakfast included eggs and sausage with fresh fruits, cereal and a waffle maker. The cleaning staff was efficient, and the front desk was very helpful. Plenty of storage space. Mattress clean, drawers clean. 3 minute drive to a cute cafe on the way to the mountains- 2/3 triple crown trail heads were 7-10 mins away. Roanoke downtown was about 18 mins away. I don’t travel a lot so I just look for a clean room and basic amenities. "

"We spent a month at Firefly Estate and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have visited SML for 5 years during October, but due to our previous rental being sold, we had to find another place to stay. Luckily, we found Firefly Estate. The house was amazing and looked and smelled brand new. Exceptionally clean. We were amazed to see the number of bedrooms and private bathrooms throughout. The kitchen was beyond fully stocked - we like to cook and had no problem finding kitchen tools during our stay. If you prefer to go out, you are so close to restaurants and local stores you can eat out and be home in just a few minutes without the long and twisty drive like other places. The house has a fantastic saltwater heated pool. Even in October with the chilly nights, the water was warm and refreshing during the mild days and cool nights. For those of us who wanted something warmer, the new & large hot tub was available. The house also has a great dock allowing you to park a boat under a covered area with electricity nearby. We caught many stripers and nice bass during our stay. The house is in a cove with approximately 4 other rentals. During our stay we saw a few other guests, but with the layout of the area we had plenty of privacy and did not feel like others were piled on top of us. Most importantly, the host was amazing! Easy to chat with and offering staff support throughout our stay. Though we rarely needed anything due to the perfect home. :-). Highly recommend!"

"We had a wonderful peaceful stay. Kids and dog loved it. Deck felt very safe to let my kids enjoy the outdoor view without worrying they’d fall off, need close supervision on steps down to and on the dock. Kitchen had plenty of basics for preparing easy meals if desired, however no filtered water so definitely bring that; the tap is a bit sulfur-smelling and wouldn’t be great for large consumption. House was comfortable- comfy couches and beds and a nice big TV. We found the location very convenient for most things, about 15 minutes to SML state park and 15-20 minutes to most other things. We’ll definitely come back! The view is the best!!"
