Great home for 2 couples and 2 children

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice house to relax at. Walk to the Overlook at the ocean and watch the Turtles at high tide. House has all amenities you need and there is water gear left by previous residents. The house is not real close to any usable beaches but a 20 minute drive will get you to everything you need in Hilo. We stayed 10 days. Had a great time. I would recommend it to someone looking for a place to play games and spend time with friends and family.

Place was amazing

Place was amazing, it was quite, except for the frogs at night, but they didn't bother me at all. There is no AC , but with the fans on and windows open it was fine. Love the lanai, I was able to just sit out there for breakfasts and dinner and enjoy the ocean view, the breeze, and the chickens. The only thing is I wish there were more hooks in the bathroom and a night stand in the bedroom with the twin beds. I had no where to put my things and I usually have a cup of water near me at night. The bedrooms were big with enough closet space. The place is only close to an hour drive to the National Park and close to half hour drive to Hilo. So it wasn't far to do the things I wanted.

Beautiful property

The location is perfect if you want a quiet, peaceful vacation. Shopping and restaurants are a 15 minute drive. The Lanai was a gem!!! I appreciated all of the amenities for handicapped visitor, with easy access to the house (ramp) and the shower.

The property is near the ocean. Great view from the lānai. At night the house was warm and the flooring was slippery and damp. The ceiling fans were a nice option to try and cool the house down. The house was clean and there was plenty of space. Check-in and out was easy.

A bit remote but great

Services are not close if you need them, stores etc... local TV service at this house is limited if you need that, must have a car if you choose this location. For us it was perfect, didn't need the fancy things some folks need, wife and I had a great experience, and talk story with the neighbors,I could live there, we'll be back.

We lived sitting on the patio and looking at the ocean. Nice quiet location and friendly neighborhood. The only drawback was some minor maintenance requirements in the house (broken cupboard door, sticky kitchen faucet) but not a big issue.

Slice of paradise

We stayed in Moana Imaku for a week and loved it. The house is really nice, the neighborhood is safe and quite and the ocean is just a two minute walk. We were there in July so we were concerned about not having AC. However, there are ceiling fans in all the rooms and the location cooled down enough that we had no problems sleeping. We did make it a point to be out of the house in the afternoons as it was quite warm.

Real Hawaii experience

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moana Imaku. The house is located on the edge of a real neighborhood. Quiet and across the street from a neighborhood park. The complete opposite of a typical Hawaii condo development. The lanai is probably where we spent the most time, eating and relaxing. Restaurants and a grocery store are probably a 20-minute drive away. The slightly funky, small town of Pahoa is also close. The property manager was great. really responsive and friendly.

Awesome Lanai with beautiful ocean views

The residence is in excellent condition, stocked with all the goods needed to cook for your family including pots, pans, serving bowls, kitchen utensils, spices, cooking oil and a filtered water container in the fridge. They also have ice chest, beach chairs, towels, bug spray, sunscreen, games and cable tv. Just about everything you could need for staying I. Or exploring the island. Location is great, just takes about 45 minutes to get to Hilo for beaches and shopping centers. My favorite feature of the property was the lanai, seeing and hearing the ocean right in front of us in a large gathering spot while playing cards with the family over great conversations made for the perfect ending to each day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The house was beautiful as was the location. It had everything we needed for a party of six and then some. They only thing I couldn’t find was beach towels bought we bought some as souvenirs. There were beach chairs, coolers, snorkels, boogie boards and water shoes. The lanai was absolutely amazing and is where we camped in our brief time that we weren’t out exploring. Although there is no AC, with all the windows open it was very cool and breezy in the house. There were plenty of goodies left from previous renters that were extremely helpful! You won’t regret booking your stay here!!

Lovely home, horrible stay

Lovely, spacious home, was well done - BUT - has had damage that hasn't been repaired. No air conditioner was a deal breaker. Although it cooled off outside at night, the lack of breeze left the house so hot we didn't rest well, and the home sits on a main street leaving multiple parks and there was traffic all day and most of the night and the cars accelerating up the hill, along with the birds singing all night, then chickens in the morning, with the windows open, made for much interrupted rest. Best part was the lanai which was lovely, but the grill was filthy before we cleaned it.The other icky things are something smelling rotten in the main bedroom closet and the dishwasher malfunctioning. We started the dishwasher when we left one morning and returned to a not draining fault code. Removed the filter and pulled out hair and shards of glass, then washed off the greasy residue. This did not clear the fault so moved downstream and disconnected the dishwasher drain hose and removed more shards of glass and a woody stick from the dishwasher drain line. That fixed the problem. To their credit we did not notify the manager but do you think they would call a plumber/maintenance in on Sunday night for a dishwasher?Last concern is the bedroom lights had pull chains to control lights and fan speed. Someone using a wheelchair would not be able to reach the light control chain. Some rooms had fan/light control remotes but not all.

The neighbors are the problem

This property is absolutely beautiful. The location is far from most things, but by a beautiful state park. Everything about the property itself was great. However, the neighbors on both sides make it very clear that they would rather not have a VRBO nextdoor to them. The ones closest to the ocean called the property management company and made a false claim that some of the people in our party were smoking on the lanai. This was obviously not true and could have been fact checked with the cameras that are facing the lanai. There are several cameras on this property. Instead, we received an email informing us it was illegal and we needed to stop. The neighbor on the side farthest from the ocean started verbally harassing us on the day we checked in. He could be heard yelling "Shut the f*** up and get back in your f***ing rental" whenever we were outside, regardless of the time of day. Several people in my group are retired military and have hearing loss as a result so they do speak at a slightly higher volume than someone with perfect hearing. It definitely put a damper on our trip to feel like we couldn't go outside unless we were leaving.

The place was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The outside space is to die for. The park across the street is a great place to see the sunrise. When exiting the property, if you take the road around the curve, it is an amazing scenic drive! We would definitely rent this place again!

The property was very clean, kitchen stocked with everything you need. The porch is awesome. It has a great view and always had a breeze. Would stay here again for sure. The mermaid ponds are right down the street!

Idyllic Location and Lovely Home

We especially enjoyed all the fans in every room and the nice large lanai, where we had breakfast every morning looking at the view of the ocean. This is a very spacious property and had lots of room for the three of us. There were plenty of windows to open when we returned after a day of touring around, which helped to dissipate the heat.
