What a charming hotel! Lots of quirky decorations throughout the hotel and in rooms. The staff were absolutely lovely- happy to help with any and all questions. We had a loft room, which was small but more than sufficient, with a breathtaking view of the fjord. We made use of the two hot-spring fed hot tubs available to guests as well. Our stay at the Hilltop House at Hvammsvík Nature Resort was, quite simply, beyond words fantastic. From the moment we followed the dirt road up the hill, we knew we had found someplace very special. I’ve stayed here three times over the past 10 years. Most recently in October 2026. The property is very well maintained and looks the same as it did 10 years ago. If I am going to West Iceland I always stay at the Fossatun hotel. It’s also a great place to see the aurora.

A wonderful property. It's not a hotel, so if you're expecting something luxurious, this isn't it! The location is great, and the owners have developed cute walking trails about troll-related folklore. There's a shared kitchen available, and the bathrooms are in a building less than a minute walk from the pods. It's northern Europe, so the showers are communal. Natural hot tubs are open in the evening, and there's a decent (and relatively cheap!) restaurant on site with a sunroom for taking...

We stayed for only one night, but this is one of our favorite hotels. First of all, we are family of 5 and stayed in the family room. It is more than enough to accommodate six people comfortably. The hotel is also extremely well maintained and very clean. It is directly across the street from a grocery store. Also the buffet breakfast was by far the nicest one we’ve had as we’ve driven the ring around Iceland. I could not recommend this hotel enough if you’re looking to spend a couple of days in...

The BEST experience we had during our stay. The northern lights were beyond incredible. This was exactly what we were hoping for and it did not disappoint. The view was incredible. Front desk gentleman was very welcoming. Breakfast was great and in a quiet setting. The Aurora Cabin was just an unforgettable experience!!!!

Such a wonderful pleasant stay. I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Anna, the spirited manager/owner of the well kept comfortable house, and it is clear that she has put her heart and soul into the place. It shows and delivers! Highly recommend staying here.

Easy check in. Less than a block from a bus station and multiple restaurants and grocery stores.

Great place, far away from everything, so buy from a store what you want because no grocery store in radius of 50-60 km. Because it is distant from lights we managed to see the Northern lights for the first time there :)

My boy loved the facility! Special and unique hotel for kids :) Before I went there I afraid of the check-in, but the host welcomed us kindly.
