    Iceland Hotel Travel Guide

If the best whale watching or visions of glacier lagoons, undersea geysers, steaming mineral springs, and the gem tones of an aurora borealis don't urge you to find cheap hotel deals in Iceland, you should probably check your pulse and book some rooms right away before the special discount rates are gobbled up by your fellow world travelers. Vacationing in bright, unspoiled Iceland is no longer a secret. The country offers too many interesting options.

Brace yourself for a northern adventure in a land settled by Vikings, where the sun never quite sets in the summer. The hours of daylight make Iceland hotel packages a true bargain. Forget about laying around with sand sticking to your tanning oil in Iceland. You'll be too busy driving a snowmobile towards the top of a glacier in the morning and enjoying your reservations for a midnight whale watch later that day.

Iceland may be the ultimate northern vacation spot. Fans of extreme landscapes will relish the guided glacier walks, jaunts to lagoons packed with icebergs, tours of the lava tube caves, and helicopter rides near the brink of a spectacular volcano. Iceland hotel deals are the best way to experience the Golden Circle, a tour of Iceland's topographical highlights. The Golden Circle excursion includes Gullfoss Waterfall, Strokkur Geyser, and a volcanic crater lake.

Hotels in Iceland cater to tourists who are interested in very active vacations. Snorkel through the clear, otherworldly-blue waters of Silfra fissure or dive the deep geothermal springs. You can fish for wild salmon and arctic char, or whitewater raft down a glacial river twisting through jagged volcanic rock canyons. To change the pace, take the ferry from the West Fjords to Flatey Island and stroll through a village that has remained largely unchanged since the 1800's.

The capital city, Reykjavik, offers great prices and the most chances to find a cheap Iceland hotel deal. Reykjavik is the site of Iceland’s first permanent settlement, and experts consider it one of the cleanest, safest cities in the world. Reykjavik offers all the benefits of a modern city; it has been called the nightlife capital of the north. There are plenty of clubs, museums, concert halls, spas, and boutiques near the Iceland hotels to pack your nights with as much action as your days.

    "Reykjavik's Hippest Place To Be . . . In 1955!"
Don't be put off by the title of this review, the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura is a very good hotel with exceptional staff. The building's cool 1950s aesthetic exterior will remind many of us of a certain age of a our post-war brand new high school or perhaps first job at a pharmaceutical head office. Part of it (one wing) is occupied by ICELANDAIR's headquarters and the back door opens to the hanger line of the Reykjavik airport (RKV) where small commercial airlines operate. One can well imagine the flight crews of yore popping into the hotel's bar when they finished their flights. When you look out the front door you can see the magnificent Perlan - a place everyone should visit when they first come to Reykjavik. It is a pleasant walk to there as is the stroll to downtown on a sunny day. The hotel provides free city bus passes for those who ask.

The hotel was very clean. It was about 40min walk to the center of downtown but was also on one of the major bus routes and almost always had taxi's available in the driveway. One thing worth noting is that it is apparently common for hotels and houses to have a sulfur smell to the water due to how the city water is sourced. The Hilton does a secondary heat exchange so that your water does not have this smell which was a huge plus for my wife.

    "Exceptional service!"
This hotel is conveniently located, excellent restaurant service and food. The staff all went out of their way until we were satisfied with every detail. The connection to transportation around the island for tours, golf and even rental bikes was outstanding. We couldn't have done much without all the friendly staff to understand our needs and get it done immediately! They even kept trying when some tours were booked up. We had an excellent stop over!!

    "New experience"
First time in Iceland - for driving roads are very good. Airport excellent - well into 21st century. Hotel - arrived half way through Euro match so lad looking aft reception wasn't bothered about us. Managed to find stuff ourselves. Room was at back but 250m away the busy dual carriageway - so really, really noisy - all night long - even with windows shut. This hotel more like a motel in England. One room service during stay and then only to empty bins. No packs to tell you stuff (would have been appreciated). Hot tub - you ask at Bar and it takes an hr to fill but worth it. Gardens not well kept. Basically everything needs a polish up. Breakfast nice but same each day. KFC in front of hotel. After book in staff were really, really nice. Iceland lovely - lots to see - it is expensive - soup and coffee £20. Lost a bit of weight though!
