Windy Knoll invites you to come and relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Afton Mountain greenery. Large A-Frame windows allow the sunlight to come through so you can enjoy the birds and nature all around. The property sits on 3.5 acres so it is very private. An expansive rolling lawn in the front to enjoy watching the deer in the morning while having a cup of coffee on the wide front porch. Forest areas on the side and back of the house. Enter the home in the front door and a warm and welcoming living room await you with a couch, 2 comfortable chairs, and a gas burning fireplace. Throw blankets and pillows for snuggling while watching a movie. TV and DVD player with a selection of movies to choose from. The dining room with bay seated window has a large table to seat 6 comfortably. The front porch also has a dining table. Spacious, well appointed kitchen with all you need for preparing delicious meals after a day of hiking the Appalachian trail or sightseeing. Dish-ware, flatware, sauce and saute pans. Wine glasses, coffee mugs, serving ware. Crock pot, blender, mixer. Coffee pot with coffee bean grinder (Starbucks coffee beans in the pantry). You will find a few condiments in the refrigerator, spices, herbs, oil in the pantry. The loft bedroom has a Queen bed and a Double Bed with a private bathroom and shower. The first floor bedroom has two twin beds and a separate bathroom with walk in shower. Loft area also has a desk with laptop and printer for your use. Back deck has a grill all ready for those barbecues!

Winning Location

Fantastic stay at Windy Knoll for our annual ladies trip. Great location for hikes in the morning and vineyards in afternoon. Hoping to return in the fall as I imagine the foliage is incredible!

Family Vacation

Stayed here a few days as part of larger vacation with my girlfriend, mother and dogs. The property is in a great location and only minutes from everything we like to do. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood and had lots of well thought out extras, including for pets. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Retreat

Great spot for a week getaway. The house was clean, bright, well stocked and welcoming. We loved eating all our meals on the porch overlooking a large grassy area. Close to hiking and vineyards. Highly recommend this beautiful house!

A perfect getaway

Wendy and Mike have a fabulous house in the countryside near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Everything was perfect - comfortable, clean, well-stocked. Communication with Wendy was super easy and quick. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The house and property were more than we ever expected. The house was clean and filled with many amenities that made our stay very comfortable. Wonderful stay!

Windy Knoll was, as advertised, a scenic and peaceful property in a lovely area of the Rockfish Gap. The house was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and loaded with thoughtful and welcoming amenities and supplies of every incidental item you could imagine. One of our very best VRBO’s ever! Kudos to the owner Wendy. We will be back, and recommend to others.

Couldn’t ask for anything more.

What a great place to unwind from the daily grind. Wendy had everything you could ask for in a stress free cabin get away. From a supply of coffee beans to dog towels and gates on the front porch. The place was clean and well appointed.

Beautiful Mountain Country Getaway

The host Wendy was very kind and quick to respond to us. This beautiful vacation cottage home has great views and awesome for seeing the stars and moon out the huge windows! The cottage was incredibly clean, organized and comfortable. It is ideally located to all that the Blue Ridge Mountains and Central VA have to offer. Worked out great for us to stay here as we have family that live on both sides of Afton Mountain that we were visiting.

Quick Family Getaway

My family decided to take a quick three-night trip to escape work and just relax and this was definitely the place to do it! We enjoyed the gorgeous views from the home and visits every night from the white-tail deer. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook a nice meal and enjoy our relaxing weekend. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We all enjoyed ourselves, including our two dogs who loved the acreage to explore.

This is our second time here. The home is comfortable and generously equipped. We hiked nearby, had deer visit us daily and enjoyed the fireplace in the evening. First rate! We will be back again.

The Knoll

Everything was great. I rented it for my folks - dad 77 mom 72. They said they haven't felt so relaxed in years. They had a tough year - and "The Knoll" was just what the dr ordered. Thanks Wendy and Mike :)

Front porch with amazing views.

Nice property with a great view of the mountains. The front porch was a great place to sit, no matter the time of day. Always something to see and just calm and relaxing. The location is really good in term of getting to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive, either Staunton or Charlottesville, and there are breweries/wineries all over the place. And we've never been to a VRBO property that was so well stocked in terms of toiletry items you may need. Two thumbs up!

A charming house in a very pretty place

Clean, well stocked and organized, in a beautiful location near vineyards, hiking, vineyards, breweries, and did I mention vineyards? The front porch is absolutely perfect for enjoying a glass or three of wine while watching the deer. The only tip I would give to prospective tenants is that if you want to sleep past sunrise, bring an eye shade. The house has a lot of windows that allow in a lot of light.

A home away from home.

My family had a smashing time at Windy Knoll. The house is very welcoming, clean, and well equipped. Little one had so much fun, it was hard to leave. The loft was the favorite part of the house, as well as the streams. Nature offered a variety of “toys” and plenty of entertainment. Our pup also had a blast running down the hill and fetching balls. This was our first time, but not the last one.

Property far exceeded our expectations. The house itself and surrounding views from the front porch and inside the house were breathtaking. The grounds are kept in perfect condition. Walks on the grounds were a beautiful way to get good exercise. Inside every detail was first rate. Sitting on the porch, hearing the birds and chimes, was a favorite. Then coming inside to the gas fireplace was perfect.

Private, relaxing getaway with amazing view and close to trails & wineries

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Windy Knoll! It was the perfect location, very private with room to take in the view, yet very convenient to local attractions including the Blue Ridge Parkway, local breweries & wineries, trail heads & Lake Sherando. Wendy has thought of everything from an extra toothbrush, bottle of wine, Starbucks coffee & pantry necessities such as salt, oil & napkins. Immaculate house with a very easy flow. My kids (ages 1-11) and husband all had a blast and we loved hanging out on the front porch and playing in the meadow. The kitchen was fully stocked with good quality cookware—not the usual rental hodgepodge. This is by far our favorite VRBO ever and we look forward to returning! Thank you for a true getaway, Wendy!
