Hit the pristine slopes of this Colorado ski resort in winter and enjoy biking, hiking, golf and scenic gondola rides in summer.

Steamboat Ski Resort is a popular year-round mountain resort that spreads across seven peaks of the Park Range in the Rocky Mountains. It’s famous for its smooth and dry Champagne Powder® snow, which creates idyllic skiing conditions. Have fun on a skiable terrain of 2,965 acres (1,200 hectares), with 165 trails suitable for skiers from beginner to advanced levels. Discover five terrain parks, complete with boxes, halfpipes, jumps and rails.

First-time skiers are welcome at Steamboat Ski Resort. Choose from a range of group and individual ski and snowboard lessons with skilled instructors. Buy or rent equipment from the resort’s shops and ask about free rental packages for children.

Other ways to explore the mountain are on guided nature trails, snowmobile tours and cross-country trails. Join a photography snowshoe tour with a professional photographer. Enjoy family-friendly entertainment with a sleigh ride and a snow tubing adventure. Ski down the exhilarating Heavenly Daze run with an Olympic silver medalist.

During the summer, marvel at the natural beauty of the Yampa Valley on a breathtaking gondola ride. Bike, hike or ride on horseback across the blossoming wildflower meadows of Mt. Werner. Specialist photography and culinary walks are also available. Play a round of disc golf or challenge the bridges, drops and jumps of the Steamboat Bike Park.

Attend free summer concerts and open-air screenings of classic Hollywood movies at the base area’s Gondola Square. Dine at the varied selection of on-mountain and base area restaurant options before, after and between activities. Sit on a sun-soaked terrace or experience a five-course sleigh ride dinner in winter.

Located at the eastern edge of Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Ski Resort is about a 3-hour drive from Denver. Free parking is available at the resort’s base area. Use the free shuttle operating between the resort and the hotels of Steamboat Springs.

The ski season is from late November to April while the summer season is from June to September. Visit the Steamboat Ski Resort official website for information about lift passes, activities and lesson prices.

We went between Christmas and New Year's and it was crazy busy. We were accomodated, but you could tell the town was taxed by the volume of people. Try to avoid this time if possible.

It's a beautiful place, but annoyingly pretentious. It is not as frenetic as the ski resorts along I-70 like Vail or Breckenridge, but not as convenient for most people either. I have only been there in the summer, so I don't know how it is during the winter, but I would imagine it's even busier than during the summer. There are a lot of conveniently located hiking and mountain biking trails right next to town that I took advantage of which is nice because I like a lot of exercise. The landscape is greener here because the area gets a little more precipitation throughout the year that most other parts of Colorado which is pleasant. The Strawberry Park Hot Springs is the nicest of the small hot springs pools I have seen in Colorado so far, but I prefer the hot springs at Glenwood Springs for its aesthetics, size and convenience to the Denver area. Overall a nice place to visit for the aesthetics, hiking and mountain bike riding, but I found the arrogant and pretentious nature of some of the people in the area annoying. For a summer vacation with all of the hiking, access to bigger mountains, just as much mountain biking and, for now, less annoying and pretentious people I would recommend going to Buena Vista.
