About this property
Hudson Valley Apartment in a Historic Farmhouse w/ Sauna Near Stone Ridge Hamlet
Wood-fired sauna and private outdoor space shape the experience here, with direct access just outside the door. Set in a 1920 Hudson Valley farmhouse in Stone Ridge, this first-floor apartment is designed to be easy to use and comfortable to settle into from the moment you arrive.
The space is private, with its own entrance, and arranged with a simple, practical layout. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable living area centered around a propane stove, a functional kitchen, and a bedroom positioned for rest. We use highest quality Casper mattress so you can enjoy restful night of sleep. Everything is set up so you don’t have to think about how to use it — you can just move in and get on with your stay.
Inside the apartment, details are kept practical and intentional. The place has a rustic feel but the amenities kept updated and modern. The kitchen is set up for regular use. Complimentary coffee and tea selection is high quality. Toiletries are premium and hand picked from top notch organic spa quality brand. We do not cut corners on the high quality products to offer to our guests! The focus is on making daily routines feel enjoyable, smooth so you can spend more time enjoying the area.
What makes this place work especially well is how naturally the indoor and outdoor areas connect. You can step outside to the stone patio, spend time in the backyard, or use the sauna at your own pace. It’s a setup that supports a clear rhythm to the day — time outside, time to reset, and a warm, quiet space to come back to.
The location adds another layer to the experience. You’re positioned at the junction of Cooper Street and Main Street, right at the start of Stone Ridge’s historic corridor. From here, you can walk or drive into a hamlet defined by early stone buildings, small institutions, and a layout that has remained largely intact over time.
Within a short drive, you can reach High Falls and the canal-era locks, explore nearby farm roads and open landscapes, or head into the Gunks for hiking. At the same time, Stone Ridge itself remains quiet and low-key, with a small number of restaurants, local spots, and a pace that feels closer to everyday life than a tourist center.
This home is part of Dream House in the Gunks, a small collection of places developed with a focus on how a stay actually feels. Each space is prepared with care so guests can settle in comfortably and have a consistent, reliable experience.
It works as a simple, well-located base: a comfortable place to stay with direct outdoor access, set in a historic Hudson Valley hamlet with easy access to the surrounding region.

Cozy, clean, and extremely accommodating. Everything was planned out well and the sauna was lovely in such cold weather! Would highly recommend for anyone considering travel to this beautiful region of New York!
There was a bit of confusion over booking an extra night but I honestly do feel as though that was a miscommunication.
Unfortunately, the ad stated it was wheelchair accessible which it is not. I have mobility issues and this is not the place for that. Steep driveway, stones loose walking to the front door, and steep stairs outside.
The house was advertised as having a washing machine which it did not have. I have a toddler and it made the trip so intensely stressful. We had to rent a car - something we weren’t going to do since we were in walking distance of restaurants, a library, and a cafe.
Lastly, it was advertised as having a fenced yard. This also was not the case and the front yard is on an extremely busy road. This again, was difficult with a toddler.
We had to end our trip early to find a place with these ammenities. It made everything more stressful and expensive- two things you don’t want a getaway to result in.
The home was clean and comfortable for our stay. We spent a lot of time exploring the region, so we didn't spend much time in the home. However, there were just a few items that we would suggest for safety reasons: a safety bar in the bathtub and a non-slip mat or something similar at the bottom of the tub. Some of the stones on the front path from the drive are loose. The people who were in the upstairs apartment had a dog which we saw with them on the patio and also heard bark one night that we all were there.
This is a lovely redone historic home near the center of Stone Ridge, it is a place to unwind and relax. Communications with the host were excellent.

The hose is really cute and decorated well, however we were put off by the smell of the water. My family refused to even wash with it. We had to go to the store for bottled water and shower at a friend's house. Also the bedding needed to be laundered. I emailed the owner about these problems and did not hear back.

If you’re planning to stay here, there are two important things to know BEFORE you get there. Firstly, there is a good chance you won’t get reception anywhere near this town. Get your check in instructions with the WiFi info and door code before you drive into town. Secondly, the water here smells rotten eggs. This is true for the sinks and the shower. You don’t feel clean after showering or washing r your hands after using the bathroom. We brought in our own 2 gallon tanks of water from the grocery store. We also noticed that there’s a sink faucet with what we believe was filtered water in the kitchen, but we didn’t see this mentioned anywhere. The unit also has only shear curtains in most of the rooms. This means that at night, there’s no privacy besides the town’s small population because you can see through the whole unit from the outside. Lastly, the bed was sagging for the first two nights we stayed there before I checked and saw the bed was not fully assembled. I managed to find a second bolt to hand tighten the middle support into place so the bed would not sag. It didn’t cause us too much issue, but there is a neighborhood rooster who seems to scream at all hours of the night, even when we left for our flight at 3am.
We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this comfortable, relaxing space. I wish we were there for more than one night. The instructions for the fireplace are actually on a metal plate under the unit and is not controlled by the thermostat as mentioned in the welcome message. The heater in the living area was a little loud.
