Take the road beyond Fusine (closed in wintertime) towards the Laghi and this emerald mountain lake with grant views is your reward. There are several spots where you see the water bubbling upwards, vulcano style, which fits perfectly with the idyllic scenery.

The hike around this upper lake takes a good one and a half hour, depending on how many benches you want to try out. There is a connecting trail to the lower lake as well - will try that next time!

"Goed plek tussen lake Bohinj en het dorpje Bohinj in. 5 min rijden naar supermarkt en restaurants. Tegenover het huis stroomt een heerlijk schoon riviertje waar je in kan zwemmen (wel stroming). Apt 4 is schoon en prima. Fijn dat er een wasmachine staat. Het is niet heel groot maar als het goed is zit je toch weinig in je apartement! "Vasja is a fabulous host, who greets visitors with a welcome drink & plenty of regional insight. The apartments are designed for big groups with multiple beds in multiple rooms. While we only stayed for 2 nights, things are set up nicely for week-long stays. Breakfasts are delicious and locally sourced. Bovec is reasonably convenient (35-40 min) to ski slopes in Italy. It’s also in the heart of beautiful natural wonders. Driving the mountain roads nearby is exhilarating."

"The location was great. Near the train station. My 3 brothers and I stayed there. We were our touring Vienna all day long and got back at midnight. The walk from the underground station was a little long, but doable. Bonus points for having a long comfortable couch for my 6’6” brother to sleep on. That was a nice surprise."
