It has had monks onsite for over 900 years, longer than any other Abbey or monastery in Europe. Most of the structures burnt to the ground in the 18th century, so a majority of the buildings are a mere 300 years old. The Abbey library contains an outstanding collection of both print volumes and drawings, many of which have now been digitized through a partnership with Danube University-Krems.
