We stayed at SANA Silver Coast Hotel in Caldas da Rainha from August 1st to August 12th. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing, especially regarding cleanliness and hygiene. The room was not cleaned properly during our stay. The bed was not regularly changed, and the bathroom seemed to receive little more than a towel change. Our son dropped some toothpaste on the bathroom floor and it remained there for days. After I shaved, the hair was not cleaned, and after cutting my nails, the nail clippings were still on the shower floor. We also found insects on the bed that appeared to be fleas or bed bugs, which made us very uncomfortable. On our last night, we ate shrimp risotto at the hotel restaurant. Shortly afterwards, we became very sick with vomiting, diarrhea, headaches and severe body aches. We cannot confirm that the food caused this, but the timing was concerning. We stayed for 11 nights and expected a much higher standard from a hotel of this category. Unfortunately, the lack of proper cleaning, the insects and our experience after the meal seriously affected our vacation. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves the cleaning and food safety standards.
