“If you are driving: there is like an hour and a half drive on unpaved roads varying from relatively smooth to incredibly rough supposedly at other points in the year there are streams that require fording. 4x4 recommended. That being said, once you are there, the views are incredible, the rooms are beautiful, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is mind-blowing. “Everything was wonderful. The room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff was great. Extremely attentive and friendly. It was our 56th wedding anniversary and they sent a nice chachuterie board to our room. Every evening the maid came by with a sweet treat for each room. The property is very nice and right on the bay. Very relaxing atmosphere . I would definitely consider returning to the Amaka Lodge

“This a beautiful property with rustic cabins. There are amazing views as it is high up. We saw many birds from our balcony including green parrots and toucans. It is quite a climb from the road, definitely not accessible, but close to Drake Bay beach, a grocery store and several restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. We pre-arranged a tour to Corcovado National Park through the hotel and it went great. You can order breakfast the day before and have it specially prepared for you……

“The cabina had an extra extraordinary view.
We loved that the bedrooms were closed off and did have air conditioning, but that the rest of the unit was completely open
The house cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning every morning
I had laundry done, and it was very reasonably priced and done very well
The unit is within walking distance to almost everything but best of all the beach is right there!”

“The welcome by being collected on the beach and having our luggage taken to the room was a nice touch. The room itself was clean and the view was gorgeous.
We were disappointed with the general service, particularly in the hotels restaurant. We booked a table on the first evening and it wasn't ready when we arrived, with the staff seeming stressed at our arrival. We were sat down 15 minutes late and the food took over an hour to arrive, during which time we were not visited once by the staff……
