The spa takes its name from 19th-century Hungarian politician István Széchenyi, who played a part in the construction of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. It historically separated men and women, but today is open to both sexes together.

Purchase a ticket that includes a private cabin and lasts all day. The outdoor baths remain open from early morning until late at night, while the indoor baths and steam rooms close a few hours earlier. Rent towels and swimming costumes from the site.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would gladly book it again for our next visit to Budapest. The location is ideal—right in a vibrant square full of energy, yet the rooms are surprisingly quiet, providing the perfect retreat after a full day of exploring the city. One of the highlights for us was discovering that we were within walking distance of the Szabó Ervin Library, a must-see that had been on my to-do list for a long time. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that catered to all tastes. We also enjoyed some downtime at the pool table, which added a fun, relaxing touch to our evenings. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable—so much so that I asked for the brand details so we could recreate the experience at home. Overall, the hotel offered the perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and thoughtful amenities. Highly recommended!
