I woke up at 3am and then I hiked for 2 hours up the hill just to reach this place in time for the sunrise. There are three main Slovak mountain ranges in this one picture and therefore it is my picture worth of #trovember
We often say that a town is like stepping back in time, but time actually did stand still in this little town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. While the silver and gold mined there lasted it was incredibly wealthy, as can be seen by the quality of the buildings. This made it a target for the invading Ottoman Empire, resulting in the building of two significant castles. In 1782 it was the third largest town in the Kingdom of Hungary, but when the mines ran dry, the town stopped still.
