Home in a Beautiful "Campground" Setting
This spotlessly clean home is set far off the road in a woodland setting along a river. The large windows and light-colored wood make the home feel bright and cheery even on overcast days. The kitchen is well-supplied with nice cook ware and there is plenty of seating at the dining table. Our family (3-year old grandson, son/daughter-in-law, ourselves) had plenty of comfortable private and shared space. The home could easily accommodate more using a day-bed upstairs and fold-out couch in the living area. For those who want to stay connected, WiFi and the satellite TV work great. No fancy deck or lawn, but that was the charm for us... just natural. There are two campgrounds very close by with trails to explore. We also checked out the alpaca farm - very fun and interesting. We came for some springer fishing, and the home is within 20 minutes of the launches. Plenty of parking area for a boat and trailer. The Gorge offers all kinds of adventure! Brent is a great host. Check in/out instructions timely and clear. We also appreciated hearing about area history, places to check out, the home-building process. I gave the accuracy listing 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the pictures don't do the home justice :) Our grandson summed it up best when he rolled into his driveway: "Noooo! Back to the 'cation house with gramps and grams!"

Comfort in the forest
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfortable home in the forest. It rained 2 of the 4 days we were there, but that made a nice excuse to relax in an armchair next to the amazing windows with a book and a mug of tea. The driveway is roughly 1/3 mile long, which makes a nice daily stroll. We loved seeing the skunk cabbage and pacific dogwood in bloom. We also enjoyed exploring the area, per Brent's recommendations. Brent is a kind, friendly host and we are grateful to have had this time in Willard!

Rented the house to attend a wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. Great very remote location. Wedding party was in Hood River which is about 30 minutes from the house but a beautiful drive. House worked out great.

Lovely home in the Columbia River Gorge
My wife and I stayed here while visiting family on the area. It was such a relaxing spot to come home to at the end of a long day out. Sitting by the Little White Salmon river right in the backyard is incredibly relaxing. Also an easy ~25 minute drive into Hood River.

Amazing Anniversary Retreat
We had a wonderful time during our stay, celebrating our wedding anniversary. The private natural setting, the sound of the river, and the chance to unplug and relax made this the ideal spot for our get-a-way. Brent was a very thoughtful and responsive host, and the home is beautiful. Looking forward to next time!

Incredibly outstanding
Accommodations were primo. Location was a bit hard to find. Map only took I on to Willard A tenant from Willard assisted us in locating the house once we explained to him that we were lost Wishes there had been a trail down to the water but just the same, the panoramic view was to die for One small issue. We encountered little tiny ants on the kitchen counters and even tho there was WI-FI available we had no phone service Definitely would recommend this location to friends & family Reason for our stay was to attend great nephew’s wedding in Hood River

Enjoyed our stay very much, relaxed and close to nature
Given very clear direction by owner who also responded promptly with all queries. Home has beautiful picture windows to enjoy view of the river and surrounding woods. We're out during day to visit the Columbia River scenery and the long summer days made our evening back at house very enjoyable as well.

Soothing getaway!
This is such a nourishing and relaxing space! It was clean and lovely inside, everything you could possibly need and…to have the windows opening to the sights and sounds of the river and the quiet of the surrounding forest was incredible. I stayed 4 nights… all that were available or I would have stayed longer! Elk came through the property every morning and night, an amazing old growth stand is just up the street and this was a great home base for accessing many hiking trails and outdoor explorations. My favorite day, though, was my ‘stay in’ day. Just lounged in the sun outside by the river and felt renewed. Brent is host extraordinaire! So responsive and happy to offer ideas about what to check out in the area. You can tell he takes great pride in sharing his family land. I would love to come back!

Peaceful retre5
Deep silence in a woodland setting, with gentle river sounds in the background. The house is very well equipped and comfortable, and the host is most responsive. We came seeking retreat from a busy life, and were renewed as we had hoped. The property is close to two parks, where we took lovely walks. Enjoyed seeing a herd of elks passing through one morning!

Pristine, Starry Nights at the Willard Cabin
My new favorite place! The Willard cabin is a gem, tucked away on a woodsy property beside a peaceful river. Less than 90 min. from Portland, the cabin let us leave the city far behind, with total peace and quiet, privacy, and perfectly dark skies for star- and Milky Way gazing. The cabin itself is very comfortable. From the upstairs you can hear the river soundtrack in the background. The upstairs bedroom has a bathroom around the corner and a small sauna room as well as a daybed (perfect place for reading!). Downstairs has another bedroom with a bathroom and tub across the hall. Brent, the owner, was kind, friendly, and communicative. On his suggestion, we checked out the ancient cedar grove just 500 feet from his driveway. Wow! Also, the long driveway to his place made for the loveliest forest walk. Don't miss this place--it is an utterly refreshing getaway!

This is a nice house on a beautiful, private, and peaceful property. We absolutely loved being able to watch the river from the living and dining rooms and being able to hear it while we were going to sleep at night. Great communication from the owner as well.

Beautiful setting
Tucked away next to Little White Salmon River. Very secluded setting. About 30 minutes to Hood River. The living room is gorgeous wood with about 180 degrees of windows. Doe and fawn were in front yard when we arrived. The really odd feature was a total lack of closets in the house. Absolutely no place to hang jackets & clothes.

Our sanctuary
This is my second review. I reviewed the property after our first stay earlier this year. We’ve come back several times since then and each stay has been just as wonderful. I have recently become disabled by chronic illness, and this place has been a sanctuary for me. My symptoms are never better than when I’m on this property, surrounded by the peace and beauty of nature. This place is so special. On this visit, thanks to some tips from Brent, we were able to encounter a mother deer and her two babies. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this was a peak moment in my life. Thank you, Brent, for sharing this beautiful home and property. It’s a real lifeline for me during this challenging time in my life.
