Fantastic, beautiful holiday in Italy

Louisa is a very welcoming host for this beautiful unspoilt property, set in a quiet friendly area, with great local beaches, seafood, restaurants and the wonderful town of Carivigno. Let Louisa tell you the history and the best places to go, you will NOT be disappointed!

Wonderful place to releax

Luisa is an excellent hostess and a wonderful lady. The holiday home is small, but it offers everything you need. The large garden, the great roof terrace with a view of the sea, the 5m pool, the outdoor dining area with grill and many other things make for a great holiday. The holiday home is ideally located for traveling around Puglia (and only 5 minutes by car to the sea). We had two wonderful weeks and thank Luisa for her hospitality, her helpfulness and her discreet manner. We will certainly have positive memories of this holiday for a long time to come.

very relaxing

Bella Terra is a very relaxing place with lovely sea views, plenty of places to sit or sunbathe and the plunge pool was great for cooling off.The property is on the whole well equiped and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.Ostuni is in our opinion the best of the local towns.

A perfect getaway

It's a small apartment on a sprawling property - the apartment itself is lovely but the real reason to love the place is the outside. Lots of nooks and crannies to get some sun, take a nap, cool off (the pool and the outdoor shower). I only realized when I came back to Rome for a couple of days how much Louisa's place had let me disconnect and relax. It was everything I was hoping for in a rural Italian getaway.

Relaxing self catering accommodation

We had a truly relaxing time in the trullo. Louisa had thought of everything to make the stay memorable. The welcome pack was very generous and the well stocked kitchen made things very easy for self catering. The garden was magnificent and the available fruits from the trees delicious. We had figs and plums every day. The only downside was the low ceiling at the top of the stairs leading into the bedroom.....bit of a "pain" for anyone tall ! Car essential to get to the accommodation and for visiting the area.

A great introduction to Puglia

Lovely stay at Bella Terra. Louisa is not only a lovely warm person she’s interesting and intuitive. Nothing is too much trouble...rare to find this these days. Louisa is also generous with her plums and figs when plentiful. When we arrived, early June, her garden was an abundance of fruits and flowers. Her Limoncello is the best we’ve tasted. Good location just a few minutes drive from historic Carovigno town and the beach and waterfront fish restaurants at Torre Santa Sabina. Also just 15 mins drive from Ostuni. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay.

Fabulous holiday

We arrived to find the property as good as if not better than the photos on line. Louisa provided us with a lovely welcome pack and several gifts of homemade limoncello, passata and produce from her garden throughout our stay. She was very helpful and friendly but also allowed us our privacy. She also thought of every little touch to make the house comfortable. The garden is delightful with loads of places to relax and sit for sun or shade throughout the day, a lovely cool pool and beautiful views. Do bring mosispray as you will need it in the summer. We loved Caravigno especially in the evenings and found some lovely beaches to visit and great ice cream! The area in Trulli country is really worth exploring too. We will be back !

Truly Fabulous Stay

Bella Terra was exactly as discribed on the Web site. All the reviews are lovely and completely accurate. But each of us take home our own memories. We enjoyed the peaceful and private location. Also it is a great base to visit so many beautiful baroque and medieval towns. We recommend a travel book called 'welcome to unspoilt puglia' written by Eric and Lu Van Wesenbeeck. As a break from our travels we found lovely small coves for refreshing swims. Louisa made us very welcome. As mentioned in previous reviews she is very generous with her welcome pack but more importantly sharing her garden fruits and local knowledge. We would absolutely recommend Bella Terra to all that wish to journey through Puglia. To know that at the end of the day you can relaxe in peaceful surroundings is great. Then you have to choose whether to have supper outside on the patios or terrace with the utmost privacy or drive a short distance to Carovigno or Santa Sabina and enjoy the local atmosphere and dine out. All so good. It was a great holiday and a pleasure to meet Louisa. Thank you Chris and Cathy.

A perfect place for two

If you wanted the perfect place for two to stay in the heart of Puglia this is it. The villa is very well set up with an open kitchen / lounge area, small toilet and shower, and comfortable bedroom. We spent most mornings and evenings on the terrace under the gazebo - we loved visiting the local markets for produce and cooking for ourselves. The location couldn't get any better. The villa is set in it's own little olive grove, with fruit trees and an above ground pool. It's a few minutes from the seaside (great fish restaurant at the marina) or the local white historic village (great trattorie, pizzerie, and a fab bakery). Further afield we made day trips to Alberbello, Ostuni is a short drive away, and the magical towns of Locorotundo, and Polignano a Mare are very reachable. One day we took a day trip into Lecce which is easy to do from the local train station which is just down the road. Louisa made us feel very welcome. She is a warm and generous person. We were greeted with bounty from her garden (olives, aubergines, peppers) on many mornings. She is a wealth of information about the area having spent much time here in her youth (she is half English / half Italian). Even though she lives adjacent, she respects your privacy and never intervenes. The best thing I can say about Villa Bella Terra? We want to go back and we will.

A relaxing 10 days in Bella Terra

Joe and myself have just returned from a relaxing 10 days in Bella Terra. On our arrival Louisa, the English/Italian owner provided a warm welcome. Louisa lives next door, but is at pains to respect the privacy of her clients. However, she is ever ready to provide advice on where to eat, local sights, trains etc. The trullo was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The air-conditioning in the bedroom was very welcome. We really enjoyed relaxing in the pool, which we had to ourselves and spent a lot of time relaxing there admiring the lovely surroundings-fig and olive trees etc. There is a 4 star hotel down the road-quiet and unobtrusive, which is a nice place to go for a drink etc. Bella Terra is just outside Carovigno and thanks to Louisa's advice we ate in some lovely restaurants. The old part of Carovigno is very attractive. Santa Sabina, the local seaside resort is also close by and also has a good selection of eating places.Bella Terra is convenient for visiting local towns such as Ostuni, Alberobello, Locorotondo and Cisternino. The local train station is down the road and we used the train to visit Lecce on Louisa's advice. I would recommend Bella Terra as a great place to stay in Puglia, whether you want to just hang around by the pool and enjoy the peaceful surroundings or use it as a lovely base to explore the surrounding area. Thank you Louisa.

Fantastic Get Away From It All Holiday

If you enjoy a rural feel to your holiday but like the convenience of amenities close by then this is the place for you. Idyllic location with house surrounded by olive trees and amazing views of the sea. Only 5 minutes to the town beach of Torre Santa Sabina but if you want something quieter there are an abundance of sandy beaches either side along the coast within 10 minutes drive, most of which is a Nature Reserve. The lovely town of Carovigno is only 5 minutes by car with many restaurants. Though we preferred the pizzerie and trattorie by the beach at Santa Sabina as they were livelier. With a choice of three terraces at Bella Terra you could enjoy the sun or the shade all day depending on your preference. Great to have breakfasted on fruits from the garden with a view of the sea. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. We dined in more times than we would normally on holiday due to the relaxed vibe here. We just didn't want to go out in the evening being more than happy to eat on the terrace looking at the stars feeling that we were the only ones for miles. There are adjoining properties and a hotel close by, but you would never have known. The property itself was well maintained and very clean. We only saw the lady who looks after it, Pasqua, twice once at the start then at the end of our two week stay. She is lovely and it was reassuring to know that she was close by if we needed her. I would highly recommend this property. We very rarely visit the same place twice, but if we ever returned to Puglia I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Impressive away from it all property

We have just recently returned from this beautiful location in the heart of southern Italy. The Trulli itself is not luxurious but is comfortable and you have all the facilities you could need. The owner, Louisa, left a welcome pack of loads of basics, wine, bread water, fruit and homemade goodies - limoncelo and Jam. The real selling point of this property is the outside space and the absolute peace and quiet. There is a outside terrace which was great for al fresco dining. There are also plenty of sun chairs, beds and hammocks - even a roof terrace with a fabulous view of the sea and surrounding areas There are cherry, plum, apple, pear, pomegranate, fig, almonds, olive trees and vineyards (excuse me Louisa if I have missed anything) and you can help yourself to whatever is in season. There is something about lying in the pool and helping yourself to cherries straight off the tree - yum. Louisa the Trulli owner is really friendly and cannot do enough for you - full of local information and knowledge. Caravigno is the town closest to the property (about 5 mins drive) and is well equipped for shops and a really good market (Tuesdays). There are loads of sight seeing towns and cities round about. We visited Alborobella which is the town full of domed top Trullis (unesco site) and is beautiful and full of good restaurants and bars (about 1 hr drive). The wonderful town of Ostuni is about 5 miles away and is stunning. We also visited the Unesco site of Matera which is well worth the 2 hr drive. I would certainly have now problems in going back there.

Late summer in Puglia

Booked a late summer holidayhere. Excellent communication from Louisa who owns this Trullo. She provided plenty of information and knowing our flight arrived later in the evening offered to provide a meal for us - what fantastic customer service, the food was excellent as well. The trullo is along a lane and secluded enough for privacy but still close enough to the town of Carovigno. The trullo is ideal for 2 people and offers a good base for exploring Puglia - we liked the outside space and the roof terrace was superb for catching the sun and views. Louisa is a fabulous hostess, although she lives next door, she was unobstrusive and on hand if we needed anything. She is fun and friendly and we enjoyed her company one evening as she shared her knowledge of the area with us. She has a lovely garden and we were able to eat wonderful late season grapes and figs directly from her garden. Added to that the outside dining area for al fresco meals and the peace and quiet, we had a wonderful week in the sunshine. We were her last guests of the year and it was a lovely time to explore outside the scorching summer heat. We particularly liked Ostuni which was very pretty with good restaurants and had a lovely feel to it of an evening. We used the Carovigno rail station as a start point for a journey to Lecce - the highlight of our week. We would definitely recommend using the very efficient rail service to Lecce, it was on time and incredibly good value. Lecce was amazing and highly recommended. You can book on line with Trenitalia and store the tickets electronically to show the guard. We also would recommend a restaurant called Locanda de Nonna in SanVito di Normandi - this was a brilliant eatery and only 20 minutes away. We ate in a fair bit and it was easy to shop locally for produce - there are excellent fish shops and butchers in Ostuni with a very well stocked supermarket. There were a few supermarkets in Carovigno but it was better to travel to Ostuni for shopping. Overall we had a really relaxing week at Bella Terra, the accommodation was clean and as described with no negatives to comment upon. Louisa is a wonderful host and has a really customer focussed approach, nothing was too much trouble and although only next door she was very discreet. We would recommend Bella Terra to anyone who likes a beautiful trullo in the heart of the countryside but close enough to access the towns and beaches for exploring. Thanks again Louisa David and Claire

Erholsam

Lovely September break

We had a lovely stay at Louisa's place. She had stocked up with food and drinks before our arrival, and supplied all towels, cleaning equipment and everything else you could need. The garden was a lovely oasis, with plenty of areas to relax with a cool drink and read a book, or just doze after a day at the beach! Nearby, Carovigno had a great choice of restaurants and a good supermarket. Great attractions like Ostuni and Alborobello were easy to reach by car and it's just a couple of minutes to the train station, for an easy trip to Lecce. Louisa was helpful in all respects, even when we arrived really late at night due a diverted flight. We really enjoyed our time here and happily recommend it!

Great stay! Great Hostess!

We had a wonderfull stay at Bella Terra. The house is compact but comfortable and has everything you need, such as towels, shampoo, toilet paper, coat racks, bed linen, TV, oven, washing machine, iron, etc. The location of “Bella Terra” is perfect for day trips to special places of interest like Lecce, Alberobello and many others , and “ Bella Terra” is quietly located. When arrived, we received a warm welcome from Louisa, and she offered us homemade jam, eggs and delicious Limoncello. The garden is definitely the place to be. A large part of the garden is reserved for guests. The garden is delightfull with lots of places to relax and sit under the olive trees, equipped with garden chairs, sun loungers and hammocks. We also loved the new swimming pool which was big enough, and we loved also the outdoor shower. We could also enjoy the plums and figs that grow on the trees. Louisa said : take them , and eat them, as much as you can . Louisa lives next door. She is attentive to your needs, but affords you space to do your own thing and gave us the privacy we needed. If you have a problem, she's happy to help you to solve it ( Louisa: thx to solve our car-problem ) I also enjoyed her massage. She did this very professionally. ( keep breathing : In......out......in.....out ) We also bought olive oil and it was packaged super professionally. So : We can definitely recommend “ Bella Terra” to everyone. You won't regret it.

Our dream vacation in Puglia

This adorable Trullo was amazing and perfect for us. A slice of country by the sea side, with a flair of Puglia style. Central to some of the best towns to visit in Puglia, whether it be by the sea or country side. Louisa is an amazing host and the details she includes in your stay are amazing. You have a starter for breakfast, lunch and vino all included. Our stay was over the top and would highly recommend to a couple wanting a peaceful, garden stay in Puglia.

An oasis of tranquility

We had a wonderful stay at Bella Terra. Louisa is an amazing host, there is you need her but never intrusive. The inside accommodation is compact but comfortable and has everything you need. Outside is just amazing with so many places to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden. It was great to have the pool to cool off. This is a good location for getting around - the train station just 5 mins drive away with frequent services to Lecce and Bari. Good road links too. Our only complaint is that the time went so quickly!
