The check in was fast and efficient. Upon entering the room I was underwhelmed. Not only was the room a lot smaller than expected, it was like a premier inn room. There was only one bathrobe despite the room being booked for two. I rang the front desk to ask for another robe but they didn’t answer the phone. I had to go downstairs to ask for another robe. This was sorted out quickly. At breakfast we went early to avoid any potential noise and crowding and it was quiet but as our hot food order did not arrive at our table for well over half an hour, we were soon surrounded by people with phones ringing and raised voices etc. I enquired as to why everyone who had arrived for breakfast after us had received their order and they had exactly the same items as we had ordered, I was told there was a problem in the kitchen. This was an obvious lie, I would have been satisfied if they had told us the truth, that they had forgotten to put the order through. The lovely lady on the front desk has tried to remedy this but I doubt whether we will return. It’s a shame because I had done a lot of research prior to booking the Grand Hotel.
