Service seemed lax compared to previous stays. I have been a regular customer for years. VIP benefits from Expedia were not honoured (typically a free room upgrade, and parking). Staff were informed of this but I was charged for both of them. Parking was reimbursed by Expedia in the form of credit, but not cash. This was disappointing.
Food definitely needs improvement.
Pizza was cold, uncooked and seemed to have been pre made and come from a freezer. (Was very cold inside and the cheese wasnt melted.
The base seems as though it was pre-made but I am not sure.
It was cheap though.
Staff were quite accommodating and friendly, but it seems as though GCH is under new management, or perhaps some of the staff are students from the catering school which seems to be a part of the establishment now, I am not sure.
The place is quite old, but it is well maintained and I honestly enjoyed most of my experience here but this time there were numerous issues which needed to be addressed and I felt were not handled on the same professional level that I am used to.
Having said that, it wasnt a bad experience, the rooms are very clean, and comfortable, but those other issues needed to be mentioned in order for me to leave an honest review.
I will continue to stay here, but I don’t recommend dining here. There are better options nearby.
Steak was ok, but for the price you would expect something better from a nearby restaurant.
I do recommend this hotel however.
