Slightly north of Lyndoch, Chateau Yaldara has been creating delicious wines since 1947, soon after founder Hermann Thumm migrated here from Georgia, which was then part of Russia. Come to the 200-acre (80-hectare) vineyard estate to sample wines and learn about Barossa Valley viticulture. The riverside property was originally an 1847 land grant from the governor. Johann Gramp, a Bavarian-born vigneron or winegrower, planted grapes in the Barossa Valley in that year. The date features prominently in the name of many of the winerys favorite vintages.
