Lovely refurbishment. The room was clean, bed comfy and had everything we needed. Fresh milk in the fridge for our tea was a nice little extra. Awesome shower with top quality toiletries. Perfect location for the railway station and city centre. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Wow! What a hotel, from the moment we arrived at the hotel to when we left, everything was superb. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much for them, greeting you at the door and collecting your luggage, parking your car, a hello and a smile from everyone you met. Our room was excellent, large comfy bed, lovely bathroom with a loo that lifted its own lid and had a heated seat, which my wife thought was wonderful! The restaurant we had dinner in, Fletchers, was excellent. The food was cooked and presented beautifully. Breakfast again was excellent, all local produce cooked to perfection. We had an afternoon in the Spa which was great, well equipped with pools, saunas, Jacuzzi and even a snow room for the brave! For a treat we enjoyed a full body massage each from two well trained masseur’s which we thoroughly enjoyed. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully manicured and clean with plenty of room for a walk among the 30 acres of grounds. This is a hotel we will definitely return too in the future.

The building is beautiful and the rooms are well decorated. The staff are professional and helpful. The location is great for exploring York town centre, you can walk to the Minster, the Shambles and the art gallery. Two points for inprovement, guests shouldnt have to pay for parking when they've paid to stay at a hotel. It was £40 to park for two days. They charge £20 to park per day which is quite bad. I've never been made to pay for parking at a hotel I'm staying at before. Also, the only options available for breakfast is a very average buffet breakfast and the coffee is terrible! It's instant coffee poured from one of those thermos jugs. Nobody wants to start their day with bad instant coffee. I understand they're a large facility, so buffet breakfast is understandable but at least offer guests proper coffee!

Clean & spacious room & great base for exploring our 2nd visit will definitely be back!
