Room reeked of pinesol smell. Bathroom mirror cleaned with something that smeared. Had to clean it ourself. Breakfast was underwhelming. Looked like an old hotel that had been refurbished. Ok for a 1 night stay.

The room smelled like smoke so bad we had to febreze and wipe everything down. The owner came and accosted us to leave telling me I don’t stay at the hotel all night.

It seems like an aging property with fairly typical wear and tear: scuffs on the walls, peeling paint, residual cigarette smell in non-smoking room. The bathtub seemed miss shaped: the bottom was not flat and water did not completely drain. Sheets and comforters were stained. Do not disturb cards are not provided, and housekeeping staff attempted to enter in spite of our handwritten note taped to the door, and although we called out "no thank you" when they knocked. They also attempted to maneuver the security bar open. **The Expedia rate was not honored at check in. This property does not honor "pay upon arrival," and will "run your payment card at least 84 hours prior to arrival" (per printed instructions posted at the front desk) for their going rate rather than the rate listed on Expedia. Between an approaching hurricane, the GA / Alabama football game, and local Birmingham events, hotel rooms were at a premium so we made the best of the room we had reserved despite the mark up.
