The Cliffs A Ribeira - Areoura
Summary:
This beautiful and bright apartment in the heart of Foz, right on the seafront, boasts unbeatable views of the harbor and its fine, white sand estuary. Located a short walk from Praia do Rapadoira or the town center, Foz is a coastal paradise with its 25 km of beaches and charming coastal villages, once popular fishing villages.
A fully equipped loft-style apartment with an open-plan double bedroom, a full kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed, and a bathroom, and of course, a huge terrace with spectacular views.
The Space:
Areoula is one of seven tourist apartments in an unbeatable location facing the port and beaches of Foz, conceived and designed specifically for the enjoyment and comfort of our traveling guests.
A 50m2 space divided mainly between a spacious and bright terrace with spectacular views of the estuary, beaches, and fishing port, and a fully equipped loft with a double bed, double sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, and living room facing the terrace. This Tuesday market and café and restaurant area is a great starting point for wandering through the streets of the town center or walking to one of Foz's most beautiful beaches: Praia do Rapadoira (one of the many and varied beaches that connect one after the other along its 25km coastline).
TOURIST LICENSE: A-LU-000178
Guest Access:
The apartments have a reception desk with access via code. Each apartment has its own, private entrance, clearly marked and with its own code or key.
The Neighborhood:
Foz is one of the main summer resorts in the Mariña Lucense region. It boasts magnificent beaches of fine white sand, which also have a unique feature: almost all of them are connected by a long promenade that allows you to hop from beach to beach as you walk along it. Many of these beaches have Blue Flag status, a distinction awarded by the European Union for the quality of the water and sand, and for the availability of services for swimming and water sports. You have many others to choose from during your stay in Foz: Arealonga, A Pampillosa, Peizás, Polas, Xunco, San Pedro de Cangas… Choose your favorite and let yourself go.
Nature lovers will find their little slice of paradise in the Ría de Foz-Masma natural area, a Natura network site located between the municipalities of Foz and Barreiros and the inland areas of Lourenzá and Mondoñedo. With more than 643 protected hectares, this natural complex includes numerous habitats of community interest.
Getting Around:
The municipality of Foz is not only interesting in itself, but is also a key base for exploring the surrounding area. San Cosme de Barreiros, a municipality near Foz, with its acclaimed beaches, Ribadeo with the area's most visited attraction, Praia das Catedrais, and Cervo with the Sargadelos pottery are some of the places worth visiting for a short excursion in the area.
The nearby town of Burela with its important fishing port, San Cibrao with its Punta Atalaia Lighthouse, the Provincial Museum of the Sea and its curious Maruxaina, or the essential Mondoñedo, further inland, with its imposing cathedral are other places that cannot be missed on any trip to the fascinating Lugo Central Coast.
When thinking about the oldest cathedral in Spain, those of Burgos, Santiago de Compostela, and León come to mind. But no, it's in Foz where we find the Church of San Martiño de Mondoñedo, a must-see in the town and the first cathedral consecrated as such in Spain, and perhaps in all of southern Europe, that is still standing.
This fascinating 9th-century Romanesque basilica preserves frescoes from the period in which it was built and an important stone altarpiece. It's worth learning about its history and all the anecdotes behind its construction, for which we suggest booking a guided tour at the town's Tourist Office.
