  • You won't want to come back down to Earth after a vacation at Hatteras High, with two levels of wraparound decks and a great location.

    Pull in to find ample parking, partially covered. Open the door to a dry entry area located under the house. Walk up to the first living level, where you will find a full-size washer/dryer and a back door leading out to the wraparound deck.

    Walk up to the second level and enter the great room with cathedral ceilings lined with sliding glass doors leading out to a screened porch and the rest of the upper-level wraparound sundeck. An open floor plan on this upper level reveals the living area, dining area, and well-appointed kitchen that looks through into the great room so the chef will never miss out on the family conversation. The sundeck has a picnic table for alfresco meals.

    A spacious loft is a bonus just up a short set of stairs from the upper level. Spy on folks in the great room below and enjoy peek-a-boo ocean views from the windows in this third-level loft. Other features of this home include a fish-cleaning table with running water and an outdoor shower for rinsing off upon your return from the beach.

    The main bedroom has ample closet space and a bathroom featuring a stall shower and dual sinks. Step out sliding glass doors onto the covered deck and listen to the rolling waves hitting the beach just at the end of the street. One of the guest bedrooms boasts covered deck access.

    You will spend your vacation in high spirits when you rent Hatteras High for your next beach vacation.

The Property was very spacious and a short walk to the beach. It could use a little updating, but most rental homes in the area are slighlty dated, so its very much in line with this market, and better than many places that I have rented on the island. We only had 2 people staying, but you could easily have 8-10 or more without issues. It also had everything you need in regards to kitchen supplies ETC. The check in process was very smooth, I have no complaints and would definitely stay here again. It also had two very nice spacious decks and a screened in outdoor porch for dining that was very nice.

Decent house for beach stay

Nothing special here, but decent enough for a stay where you will be at the beach most of your stay. Inside is dated, carpet shows its age, and dining table needs to be replaced or reconditioned.

Not bad

The home is nice. Needs updated dining furniture and cabinets and could definitely use a larger refrigerator. 2.5 baths isn’t enough if tou fill 4 bdrms but we made it work. Bring your own pillows. All in all a decent home but not sure we would rent again.

House was as advertised. VACASA was very helpful. One of the ACs was not working, which was fine as it got cool our first night. VACASA responded quickly and sent a technician out the next day. I am happy with this house and would rent it again. Great location and VACASA made check in and out easy. Thank you!

Home away from Home! What a beautiful home with many upgrades to include a commercial grade stove with 6 burners & griddle for those pancakes & 2 refrigerators & dishwashers that you can`t hear running! The theater room that will make you feel you are truly at the movies or at your favorite sporting event! The elevator will take the strain out of off loading & a break from the steps, but found the steps easy to take. The views from this home are breath taking! Lost power on Wednesday and after that the Down stairs AC didn’t work. Carpet needs replaced very dirty. WiFi was in and out all week. Water was shut off to the dishwasher. Friends rented a bigger and better property on the same street with more beds and baths from surf and sound for a lot less

There were things that didn’t work…lights, bathroom fans, at least one vacuum. It was an older home, which is okay, but I was disappointed by the mobile home feel. Yes, we lived in a mobile home early in our marriage. I realize looking back that the price should have alerted me. I give Vacasa a one. I’m not 100% sure the MB sheets were clean (no “clean sheets” sticker like the other beds). Old dried up used tea bag under one bed. Old discarded bandaid at the edge of another. Dirty sock in the same room. Royally disappointed. We’ve used Outer Beaches Realty multiple times and never had something like this happen. If we’re able to come back in the future, we will book through someone else.

AC didn’t work when we arrived. 2nd floor was 80degrees. Luckily the outside temperature was cool enough the next day to open the doors and windows to air it out. AC tech man arrived the day we checked out. We packed all kitchenware to take with us because on the Vacasa text to chat we were told the kitchen didn’t have most things needed to cook with. Come to find out the kitchen was fully equipped.. One of the doors leaked and made the carpet wet around the door. The water heater is set to barely get hot so I basically shivered during a shower. The house was clean, although you can tell animals were there maybe peeing on the carpet. Beds were clean. The shower liner needs to be replaced. They are cheap so replace after each use should be in place. It had back mold looking stuff on the inside liner.

Neglected house with untapped potential

We were pretty disappointed with our stay. It's clear that the owner is just in it for the money and not for the enjoyment of the guests. When we first arrived, the keypad lock didn't work and we had to call for a new code. We found an unlocked door and got in that way and most of the windows were also unlocked. Some blinds were missing in windows and others didn't work. The house has a good layout but it's really beat. The wall-to-wall carpeting is nasty and old and we were all skeeved out walking on it barefoot. It would have a completely different feel if it had hardwood floors and/or tiles instead. The living room layout is cool w/ high angled ceilings but the old brown wood should be painted white for a lift. The best thing about the house was a few nice print frames hanging on the walls. Beds were comfortable enough and the bathrooms were pretty basic. Half of the furniture was okay but the kitchen table and chairs look like something from a 1970s conference room and the set is beat. There was a minimal and terrible assortment of books, games and a few lame movies. Definitely no thought or effort put into adding to the enjoyment of guests. It needs some major aesthetic upgrades and improvements. Overall, my family never looked forward to coming back to this beach house after a long day at the beach and we wouldn't stay there again.
