Pros: Historic, Very clean hotel with daily cleaning and lovely and respectful frontdesk staff. In the heart of downtown so access is great and the shops around would address most of your needs. Cons: Our AC was broken and we let the staff know, they just gave us a heater and that was it. We were expecting the hotel manager to come and follow up with maintenance staff to address the issue, but since it was over the weekend I think she preferred to stay at home. We let them know about the issue on Friday morning and were there three days but no one came to fix the AC. Surprising level of management and service for the second most expensive hotel in the town. PARKING: The hotel doesnt have parking and only offers valet parking. If you want to use self parking, it becomes a nightmare since you will need to use a nearby bank parking only between 6PM-9AM and during the day you will need to find alternative solutions. Parking is a headache altogether.

Great location, super helpful and friendly staff, comfortable bed…I would definitely recommend Modern and would stay again.

Hotel was really excellent - only complaint was the noise on Friday night from the car parade / shows

First of all the ice machine doesn’t work. Secondly and most importantly there was ongoing construction in the room next to me both nights I was there. There was a lot of hammering and banging going on both nights I was there. I ignored it the first night but when it happened again the second night I complained. The room next to me was being gutted so to speak. I have no problem with construction work being done but not at 7:30pm and I’m in adjoining room that shares a wall. They could have at least put me in a different room. I spoke to the contractor and told him I couldn’t sleep with all the noise. He said he didn’t know. All he had to do was knock on my door and he would have known. It’s common courtesy.
