"Our stay at the GrandWest Arashiyama was exceptional. The room was spacious and clean, reception was incredibly helpful, and the location was quiet and idyllic. During our stay we made the most of the amenities including free refreshments, a washing/drying machine, and a cute cafe situated just downstairs from the hotel entrance. Our stay here was easily one of the best parts of our trip to Japan and I highly encourage those visiting Arashiyama to consider this hotel!"

"This is a traditional ryokan with onsen facilities, and we chose the half-board option. The kaiseki dinner was excellent—beautifully presented and far more food than anyone could realistically finish. Breakfast was also outstanding, with the choice of either a Japanese or Western-style meal.
The resort is slightly removed from the main tourist area of Arashiyama, located across the river and close to one of the train stations, though not the most central lines. This does make it feel quieter, but also means a bit more travel if you're exploring the area.
The staff were wonderful—warm, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. The onsen facilities were extremely relaxing and perfect after a full day of hiking.
Overall, a classic ryokan experience with exceptional meals and hospitality."
"Excellent service and great location if you want to go to Arashiyama. Room is also spacious. Breakfast is typical Japanese foods. Overall, we have a wonderful stay"
"I LOVE THIS HOTEL! The manager and the staff at the front desk were so friendly and welcoming. They explained everything so thoroughly on how the hotel works and cool locations to check out nearby. The ladies at the front desk were also super helpful in case I had any issues finding things nearby so thank you so much again!!
I also thought that it was cool they have a live camera to the Main Street area to see how busy it is. The hotel is a little hidden away but TOTALLY worth it. It’s so quiet here at night which I really like. The staff had a very eco friendly cleaning routine which was nice since it kept the rooms tidy. Rooms themselves are pretty big for a hotel. They are more like an apartment. I traveled in a group of 3 so this was pretty much perfect for us. The bathrooms were a big sized wet room and a separate toilet from the wet room which was very cool. There is a washing machine if you want to wash your clothes here too since any coin wash is kind of far away. Super convenient!
There is also a pretty close by train station and ministop which has the most beautiful trains nearby so be sure to check them out!
All in all a great experience here! Thank you so much Hotel Riverside Arashiyama staff 🙌🙌💚💚."
