"Location is great!
The owner kindly allowed me to check in a little early. The room itself was very clean, modern and well-appointed.
Unfortunately, shortly after unpacking, I noticed what looked like a bug coming out from under the pillow. This made me uncomfortable, so I chose to sleep in the shower and decided not to stay for the second night."

"Okay walking distance from the train station, but check-in was terrible. I didn’t receive any details until standing outside on a rainy day trying to figure out how to call a local phone number, which was eventually answered by someone who only speaks Chinese. After an awkward minute on the phone they hung up, but a few minutes later I finally got instructions on how to get inside.
The staircase inside is very tight and carrying suitcases up is quite difficult. Once inside, the room is clean...

"Room was very clean and comfortable. The view was incredible. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We did the breakfast which was great and added to the experience, the view from the breakfast area is great. Would definitely recommend!
Lots of stairs up to the main JiuFen old street and tea house area, but we didn’t mind, after all the whole town is full of stairs."

"Great property, was a good experience being able to stay in a more traditional home away from big hotels and further from the tourist areas of Jiufen. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed and the extra food and drinks were appreciated. The only issue we had was that the location on Google Maps was not accurate and we got lost trying to find it the first time; however afterwards we realized it was actually in a great spot not too far from the Old Street. "A boutique hotel located close to the temple night market. Location is great for sightseeing near the port of Keelung. You can take direct bus service for a day trip to Jiufen right at the back of this hotel. "

"Best value for the price in Taipei, convenient location right across from MRT, two stops from HSR. Hotel offers large size room with all amenities, staff are pleasant and efficient, breakfast is amazing, I would stay there again!"
"We stayed at the Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei in a Grand Deluxe Family Room for seven nights, and it was a wonderful experience. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and very comfortable, with plenty of space for three friends traveling together. The beds were cozy, and there was ample room for luggage, making it ideal for a longer stay. Everything was clean and relaxing, though the room could use a bit more lighting.
The staff were warm and professional. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and they even helped celebrate a birthday with a special treat, which was such a thoughtful touch. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide variety of local Taiwanese dishes, a noodle bar, Indian and Asian options, and Western selections — all delicious and beautifully presented. The room was also well stocked with bottled water and Nespresso coffee, which we appreciated.
The rooftop pool and hot tub offered incredible city views, and the hotel is connected to a shopping mall, with the Marco Polo Lounge being a great spot for drinks. The location was decent for the metro (about an 8–16 minute walk depending on the line), and getting around by Uber or taxi was very easy. Inside, the hotel was peaceful and relaxing. Some concierge staff were excellent, while others seemed a bit inexperienced when we needed suggestions during six days of heavy rain.
Overall, the Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei delivers large rooms, great comfort, and warm hospitality."
Shop for Taiwanese souvenirs, sample regional delicacies and send a lantern sailing into the sky at the atmospheric main street of an old coal mining town.
Trains trundle along the middle of this lively street, where restaurants serve tasty street food, shops sell souvenirs and lanterns are released into the sky.
