Family

Lovely home and great vacation location near DC area. House is fabulous with wonderful views. Kitchen is very well stocked, dining and living area are both spacious and inviting, bedrooms are comfortable and bathrooms are nicely appointed. Bonus rooms are fun and useful. Property is great - even with snow and ice. Perfect place for family getaway!

Beautiful Property

I stayed with a couple of friends for a wedding we had at Early Mountain. This property was extremely convenient for us! We absolutely loved the space and view. Definitely would stay here again!

Annual Friends Trip for 12

We were extremely pleased with the property. It appears the owners have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. When we wanted to identify a bird, binoculars were right there. When we wanted a card table, there was one in a closet. When we wanted a bottle opener, a strainer, a casserole dish, they were all available. The furniture is new and tasteful. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous. We spent a good deal of our trip on the back deck. We loved the house so much, we’ve already booked a return trip. We highly recommend this house.

Wonderful Week in Madison

This is a beautiful place to stay. Lots of private areas to get away if needed but also great gathering spaces inside. We had "happy hours" in the Tiki Room, watched the Euro's (soccer) in the Great Room, played a rousing game of KickBall on the extensive grounds and the younger folk went for long walks on the beautiful property. We found a couple of places to visit in Madison, Bald Top Brewing and Cake Krums Cafe. Highly recommend both. The owner and caretaker were both responsive to our issues the main one was getting locked out of the bunkhouse as we were preparing to leave and dealing with a couple of wasp nests. (There was wasp spray in the house). My husband said the gas grill was excellent, the best and cleanest we have encountered on any VRBO rental. All in all highly recommend this place.

Spirit Animal Reunion 2024

Madison House was the star of our family reunion. Nine adults and a wee dog enjoyed so many memorable moments from before sunrise to after every beautiful sunset at this awesome home in the Blue Ridge mountains. We enjoyed the natural beauty and sounds outside and all the amenities inside - it was like we won the lottery. Thank you, Kelly, for all that you have done to offer this magical place for all of us to enjoy - Peace.

Beautiful Location in Madison, VA

The home is situated in a great location. The back of the house faces the Robinson River - it's a very nice view. There are trails leading down to the river, a private pond, fire pits in several locations (unfortunately we couldn't use the fire pits because of the wildfires but I imagine it could be fun especially the one close to the river). There are hammocks everywhere, plenty of space for kids and dogs to run around. The home is rustic, lots of natural light and equipped with a fireplace. Overall, it's a beautiful property. We visited downtown Culpeper. there were a lot of nice shops to check out. My family enjoyed their time there. Thank you for allowing us to share your home!

There are lots of activities to do just staying on the property. Hikes, horseshoes, a giant swing, or just relax and take in the beautiful scenery. The record collection was awesome!

This is a Beautiful, Comfortable home with Spectacular views and Sunsets. The perfect spot for a family to relax, unwind and spend time together. Put this on your list of places to visit and re-visit. We will return for sure!

Madison Magic

All of the reviews that we read are spot on with this house. I do want to first say that Barry and Kelly have gone above and beyond from communicating, to the little touches, the unlimited things to do and room for everyone to have their space. Once you walk into the woods ( or drive the Golf cart in and highly recommended renting as it’s quite a walk to the pond and river) your in another world. The adventure on the trails in the woods are amazing. The catch and release pond, several fire pits, picnic tables and of course the river. The river was too low to use the kayaks. For anyone who likes a cool nights sleep take the rooms downstairs. There are doors that open on to a small porch from those bedrooms and the view is amazing. There is a baby gate and 2 pak n plays as well. We enjoyed the hammocks, volleyball and badminton night, horseshoes, swings, the fire pit and the three bucks that walked up the first morning. The towels and linens were a hit as well. The teen boys enjoyed the bunk house and having their own space. So many memories. You will be glad you rented this little piece of Heaven. Thank you again! We’ll be back.

Perfect space for family gathering

Incredible views, great for a weekend getaway

Booked this property for a weekend girls getaway. The view off the back deck is incredible! It only took us about 15 min to get to 3 different wineries we were interested in visiting. We had no complaints and would recommend this home to others!

Perfect stay in a stunning home and property

We absolutely loved our time at Madison House. The home is beautifully decorated and appointed with every convenience. The beds were very comfortable, and linens were clean and cozy. The property is absolutely stunning and worth spending several days just enjoying the land and the river. The view is unreal- we couldn't stop staring out the back windows. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the games, toys, records, indoor fireplace, and outdoor firepit. We can't wait to return to this stunning home.

A perfect escape!

Our friend group booked the Madison home for a weekend getaway to reconnect and escape the hustle of the city. The home was beyond perfect and met every expectation. Waking up to the stunning views of the mountains and the river, walking around the property to explore, building fires and cooking together in a well stocked kitchen took up our weekend. We look forward to returning next year and hope to make visiting a yearly tradition.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have thought of everything that most neglect. The layout works fantastic for multiple families. The yard and trails were wonderful. Multiple hammocks for moms to have quiet time. View of the river is amazing. Pond and a river on the property. Golf cart made the property super accessible for those with physical challenges. The kitchen is awesome with cutlery galore. (Seriously, the knives are amazing). We would like to make this our annual trip. Thank you for a wonderful family & friend trip.

The property is as beautiful as listed. The location is beautiful for the eyes and ears. Lots of lovely nature surrounds you. The house was very clean and welcoming. So many perks like records and games and outdoor firepits that we ran out of time to be able to enjoy the perks. The only issue related to hot water that the hosts were kind enough to acknowledge and address for future guests. We would definitely look forward to using this property again especially during the fall foilage time.
