The property puts employees in a tricky situation where despite their intention to make things better they can’t. GR Florencia was outstanding and made it a better experience. I do feel bad for her having to fix managements oversights.
What doesn’t work: they charge £40+ to use the spa which is baffling especially when it rains, rooms are dated with wet area wood bubbling up and taps running a bit wild. In the room instead of water they offer water coolers/taps but they don’t work, dispensing warm water instead of cold and making noise, rooms have a stale smell - I stayed in room 614 maybe it was just my room. Shower water really smelled of chlorine as well.
On my last day when waiting by the pool to go to the airport, they gave us 10 minutes to get out because of an event without an apology or a fair warning at 4ish pm instead of 8 - and the employee kicking us all out was quite rude. The bar wasn’t open and the €17 glass of cava (!!! Not champagne or anything) I ordered was initially served flat by room service attendant and I had to ask for a new glass. This was a really negative end of my experience and I can confidently say I’ll never be back to this hotel. There are much nicer hotels at a similar price point that have much nicer service.
What worked:
Beds were comfy, the upstairs bar was nice, and the pool bar employees were lovely, as were guest service teams including concierge.
It’s a shame for the team who clearly try hard to make up for management mistakes.
