I've stayed here several times over the years, and this hotel has seen better days. The staff downstairs (front desk and dining area) were good, but the housekeeping staff upstairs wasn't on-the-ball. My room was cleaned, including the bed being made, literally once during a weeklong stay. Twice, I communicated my needs to the upstairs staff, and they didn't seem to get what I was asking for. Once I went downstairs to ask the desk staff to convey to the housekeeping folks that I wanted my room cleaned, etc. Housekeeping then emptied the wastebaskets (once in the week), then tossed some towels onto the bathroom counter and left. No made bed. No cleaned bathroom. No replenished coffee service in the room (I once went and asked housekeeping for non-decaf coffee), etc. It was pathetic. Oh, and regarding the towels, they are OLD and feel like drying yourself with cardboard. Seriously, the place needs an overhaul. One bright spot was the morning cook who made an excellent omelette ... but paying for breakfast and the $20 daily valet fee added up to an additional $40-50 per day including tips. People who come to Mayo for excellent medical care deserve to have high-quality, reasonably inexpensive hotel options. This hotel used to meet that description, but it doesn't any more.
