Oceanfront In Beautiful Tropical Area, by black sand beach - Oceana Hawaii

Oceana Hawaii
Oceanfront upstairs of home on the gorgeous "Red Road" and a short walk to a black sand beach. Quiet and serene yet modern in a natural tropical setting. Wake up looking at the waves, watch a pod of dolphins swim by. Have your coffee on the private outside deck overlooking the ocean. Fast Wireless Internet.

During the winter months you will see and hear the humpback whales. Explore the Volcano National Park nearby or Pohoiki beach and the recent lava flows or relax in the naturally heated hot ponds. Visit the local farmers markets for fresh tropical fruits, vegetables and fish to create your own Hawaiian gourmet meal. Uncle Robert's Wednesday Night Market is only 10 min away. About 20 min away is also a great selection of restaurants (Thai, Italian, Pacific Rim, Pizza, Mexican, Sushi, Hawaiian BBQ, Chinese, Fish & Chips, Gelato ice cream, Smoothies, Coffee Shop with bakery).

All rooms have stunning ocean views. The bedroom has a Queen-size bamboo bed and corner office desk with ocean view, ceiling fan, 55" 4k HD TV with streaming service (Netflix, Youtube etc). Bed sheets are 100% bamboo fiber, naturally soft and comfortable, except the colorful comforter cover on top is Microfiber. Adjacent full bath with tub/shower. Optional queen-sized guest bed can be added in living room (additional charge for 3rd or 4th guests). Fast Wireless Internet. Wonderful home
Incredible views, and beautiful interior. I wish the bedroom door had curtains because the light woke me up super early (and maybe something to cover all the buckets when you enter), but it was a lovely stay. Beach access would have made it perfect (and we didn’t opt for the nude beach that was closest to the house), so we did a lot of driving. Comfortable bed, cute Christmas tree, tropical paradise. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you!

Clean and Quiet
Communication from the host was above and beyond. She made sure that we had all of the checkin information before the checkin date. The home is well stocked with everything you need. Location is quiet and right on the water. It is a bit of a drive to any attractions but a great place to stay if you want to be close to Volcano National park (close-ish and on the water).

Seaside Tranquil Relaxation
This seaside property exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed the gorgeous views and sounds of the ocean. I fell asleep each night listening to the ocean and awoke to a colorful sky as I watched the sunrise. The house has large windows and sliding glass doors that lead to a lovely lanai [balcony] with a table perfect for eating breakfast and lounge chairs, perfect for soaking up sunshine by day or stargazing by night. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware including nonstick pans for the perfect eggs and pancakes. I was also impressed with the glassware selection since I enjoy my drinks in fancy glasses. They had elegant wind glasses, champagne flutes, coupe glasses, margarita glasses, whisky glassware and more! The host left us chocolate macadamia nuts as a welcome treat and we truly appreciated them. There were also quality toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was also a very strong blow dryer and cozy robes! I felt spoiled! There is even a cooler and beach towels you can use if you decide to venture out. During my stay I ventured out to the Kahena Black Sand Beach and the hot pools at Pohoiki Bay where I enjoyed the volcanically-heated water!!!! This location was the perfect spot and provided such great relaxation! Do not hesitate, book it already! Lastly, checking in and checking out was a breeze and the host was a great communicator and ensured we had everything we needed. You’ll love your stay!

Superb location. A bit more rustic than expected.
Absolutely stunning location, right on the lava cliffs with sound of waves crashing as background. Hosts responded quickly to address any issues encountered. I would absolutely stay there again. Enjoyed the geckos and chameleon...including in the house. Here's some downsides: - We lost power for about 6 hours. Transformer failure. With power out this meant we also had no water. Host brought water to get us buy. - No cell coverage (Verizon) at residence. - Internet connection dropped frequently. Drops were short period but this got a little annoying. - Place could use some TLC. Perfectly functional but don't expect elegance.

Fabulous waves at this comfortable getaway
This home had all the right amenities with great hospitality touches like fresh cut local flowers. The unbelievable part was the incredible waves crashing just below the lanai, which boasted a table and multiple lounge chair options. We were always comfortable in the home that was quick to cool off with open windows. The sunrises were beautiful and the seclusion away from the crowded tourist areas on the island was exactly what we were looking for. We hope to return soon!

Relaxing!
We’ve been to the Big Island many times but have not stayed in the Pahoa area. We loved it! A completely different vibe. The property was as was described right next to the ocean, waves crashing up onto the lava cliffs. The kitchen was well stocked, floral arrangements throughout the home to give a friendly feel. Plenty of towels and we’ll equipped beach equipment to use. Great internet service which is a plus in this remote-ish area. Sandy’s directions were spot on. She was prompt in responding to our questions. We will be back!

Yes, It's on the Ocean!
Location! Yes, it's right on the lava cliffs overlooking the ocean! And the sunrise greets you every morning. Lots of space inside the house and it has a large deck the length of the house that overlooks the ocean! Lots of windows that keep the house well ventilated. Lots of electronics that provide wifi, a landline telephone an internet phone, a wifi tv, and even electronic door locks and remotes for the ceiling fans. The manager is very helpful if you have questions about operating things Well stocked kitchen; dishes, pots, etc. Bathroom is spacious as well with a good tub shower combination. But, If you want to sightsee around, most everything is up around the Hilo area (35 to 45 minutes away). There are some things to see locally, but beaches have rough water and the road is a charming, one lane in places. Groceries are outrageously priced at the nearest store, stock up before arriving. Water is rain catch storage water, may be safe to drink but not guaranteed. It is treated (UV) and it seems as though most people trust it. We showered and washed dishes with it, but brought bottled water to drink. The house is a little rough around the edges, the salt water probably has worn it down both outside and inside. Bottom line: We grew to really like and enjoy the house. It has some interesting decor and nuances that give it some flavor. We found the secret, rough, roped trail to the cliffs about a block away (don't! get anywhere close to the cliff edge). Our neighbors were friendly, but respectful of our privacy. We spent a week and felt refreshed by the ocean waves and tropical breezes.

Gorgeous view!
We loved our stay here. We felt welcomed by our hosts, but never intruded upon. There were some lovely surprises-- like top quality cook ware, beautiful dishes and very well stocked kitchen with sharp knives, garlic press and other rarities in vacation rentals (no oven, though there is a convection microwave). Wonderful coffee set up with an espresso machine and a very good drip maker, whole bean coffee and electric grinder. Basic spices also provided. The bath towels were huge and comfy with beach towels and chairs also provided. Many thoughtful little extras in the bathroom along with top quality shampoo/conditioner. The sound of the surf crashing is fantastic and even though houses are right on either side of you, just a few feet away, it mostly felt very private. There were also a few shortcomings-- the biggest being the lack of screens for the sliding doors and a few holes in screens on upper windows that meant we constantly battled insects and bugs. The house geckos were definitely well fed! The microfiber sheets are not a good choice in such a high humidity area, we often felt damp and sweaty during the night-- cotton would have been more comfortable. Overall, an excellent value in a great location, I highly recommend a stay here!

We stayed here in late June of 2020. The weather was perfect and we loved our accommodations. The place is a bit weathered on the outside but that's to be expected when you are literally just yards from the Pacific Ocean. I would recommend this place for parties of 2.

Remote oceanfront getaway with powerful waves
This is a very unique remote oceanfront getaway on the east side of the Big Island just minutes from a black sand beach. It is impossible to beat the sounds and sights of the powerful crashing waves just feet away from the home. This accommodation gives you access to a remote location and experience rarely accessed by typical tourists. The home has a full kitchen and set of appliances. This is a home in the jungle and you must be okay with sharing the home with a few geckos. The host Sandy was very helpful, provided clear instructions, and was quick to respond to questions. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Island Getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for a Hawaiian getaway and we loved this location! The remoteness we liked, along with the small towns that were near the house. One thing to know is that when it rains (which it does a lot in this side of the island) is that the rain is loud on the roof so if you’re a light sleeper, be sure to bring earplugs! Sandy was a wonderful host and we were very happy we chose to stay here!

The Power of the Sea
We have never stayed in a location with such an intimate connection with the waves, color of the ocean, its winds, smells sun, rain squalls and above all its power and drama. It is fitting that whales, the most powerful animals of the sea swam by closer than we ever seen them from shore. A poetic connection from the comfort of home. Walk on the lanai, it was in your face. Inside the bed, bath, cooking were all comfortable and in great working order. In a quiet lushly landscaped dead end neighborhood untouched by lava flows. Next to alternate lava covered sterility and islands of big tree old jungle. Convenient to Old Hawaii Pahoa restaurants and good stores. Volcanos National Park and the Hamaoka Coast day trips easy. Dramatic beach and cliff walks, mysterious quiet old forest walks on one lane road in minutes. A most exciting but convenient to necessities and touring spot.

Waves Waves and Waves. This on the water home has a spectacular view of the crashing waves. We saw dolphins, whales, birds, beautiful sunrises and big “20 ft” pounding surf. The powerful surf was mesmerizing. The sound could be daunting but we Loved it. Our host Sandy allowed us to use some extra amenities. Thank you... Out of the way, off the beaten path, a part of Hawai’i rarely experienced by the typical tourist. Romantic two persons hideaway. Good cooking utensils. Netflix with a sound bar, needed the sound bar. Waves Waves Waves it’s all about the Ocean.
