I would not recommend staying at the Presque Isle Hotel. It was, without question, the dirtiest and most run-down hotel I’ve ever experienced. We arrived to check in at 6:00 p.m., despite check-in being 3:00 p.m., only to find our assigned room still being cleaned. There were empty bottles, garbage, and other debris throughout the room. A maintenance worker met us at the door and told us he was still cleaning it and that we would have to come back later. The front desk eventually gave us a different room. Although the replacement room had newer flooring, that was about the only positive. The rest of the hotel felt like something out of a horror movie. The hallways, rooms, and overall condition were extremely dated and poorly maintained, giving the entire place an unsettling atmosphere. The biggest concern, however, was security. Our children were staying on the third floor with their teammates and discovered that their room key cards opened the doors to multiple other guest rooms throughout the hotel. When our coach reported this to the front desk, they were told the staff was already aware of the problem but couldn’t fix it because the key card system “acts up. So every key card from the 3rd floor could.open all hotel doors. There were additional safety concerns as well. Some rooms were missing smoke detectors and just had exposed wires. The smell of smoke ans urine was another concern. No phones to contact front desk. The a/c was broken in my son's room. I could go.on
