Lovely apartment. Have now stayed in Edinburgh and St Andrews apartments. Kitchenette light on utensils/cloths but overall a lovely quality property.

This is, at best, a budget hotel that feels more like a college dorm than a comfortable place to stay. Getting to our room was a hassle—we had to drag our luggage through what felt like a dozen different doors before finally reaching it. The amenities are extremely basic, with only the bare minimum provided. The room itself was surprisingly spacious, but the bed was oddly small for the size of the room, which made the layout feel poorly thought out. The bedding and the bed were not comfortable. Parking was another frustration. You have to drive around searching for an available space next to your building, and each building has only one elevator on one side. Even if you manage to park nearby, you may still have to carry your luggage a considerable distance or up/down to reach the elevator. Or just lift them down thru the stairs. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I would not stay here again.

Initially was assigned a very small room in the eaves, not the “classic double” as advertised. Staff were very helpful and allowed me to upgrade for a reasonable price. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant menu very good, with excellent service throughout. The house itself is impressive but rooms and common areas are frankly knackered. Greasy marks around switches, peeling, chipped wallpaper and broken furniture throughout. I paid to upgrade to the “royal suite”, in order to get a desk and mirror, but it was just a very large room, not a suite, and with none of the expected facilities you would get with a suite (fridge, minibar, writing materials etc). Grounds are brilliant however and the shortcomings of the building were made up by the excellent food and high standard of customer service.

Situated in an excellent area of Edinburgh perfect for walking into the Old Town. Ideal for restaurants, bars and the castle. Just give minutes walk to the mile.
