Breathtaking sunsets, impressive rock formations and magnificent cliffs make this one of the most famous beaches in Corfu’s northwest region.
On an island with an abundance of spectacular sunset viewpoints, Sunset Beach (aka Logas Beach) stands out as one of Corfu’s finest. Marvel as the sun disappears behind the outlying Diaponida Islands and into the Ionian Sea. Watch from the seashore or on the terrace of a cliff-top bar. Visit the nearby villages to experience a traditional rural Greek lifestyle.
Access Sunset Beach via a steep pathway leading from the cliffs and down to the edge of the ocean. The beach is one of the quietest on Corfu in terms of daytime activity. There are only a few sunbeds and no rental of watersport’s equipment. Visitors come to relax, swim, enjoy the scenery and take photos as the sun turns the sky into shades of red and orange.
Bear in mind that the reputation for such spectacular sunsets means that it is often crowded with tourists as evening approaches. If the beach itself is too busy, go to the bar on the top of the cliff. Arrive before sundown, take a seat on the outdoor terrace and wait for the spectacle to happen.
While here, explore villages where time appears to stand still. Directly above the beach is Peroulades, an old village characterized by sleepy streets and pastel-colored houses. It’s a pleasant place to walk and have lunch in one of the few taverns. A 5-minute drive south, or 20-minute walk, is Avliotes, a village encompassed by green countryside. It comes to life in March during the Avliotes Carnival. Follow the road that runs from the village to Agios Stefanos, a quiet beach that is popular with families.
Located on the northwestern tip of Corfu, Sunset Beach is about a 1-hour drive from Corfu Town. Public buses run several times a day from Corfu Town to Peroulades. Rent a car for a great way to visit Sunset Beach and explore the other beaches of Corfu’s northern region. Parking is available on the cliffs above the beach.
