The Bear Den Cabin is located on Kitten Lake, which is part of the Wildcat 3 chain Lakes. Fishermen enjoy being on a 375 acre class A Musky Lake. Formerly part of the well-respected Wildcat Lodge and Resort, the 9 cabins and homes are now privately owned yet still have access to popular amenities.

Biker Riders: Just 1.5 miles directly connected to the paved, multi-city, Vilas County Bike Trail System. The Heart of Vilas County bike trail has expanded to nearly 50-miles, connecting Boulder Junction with Manitowish Waters (west) and Sayner and St. Germain (south). The Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail is fully paved and appropriate for all types of bicycles. The system includes the popular Crystal Lake Trail, which runs from downtown Boulder Junction past Trout Lake to the Crystal Lake Campground, where you’ll find a picnic area and beach. The new west portion of the trail is host to multiple scenic bridges and crosses over the rapids of the Manitowish River and Rice Creek. Also along this part of the trail system is Nichols Beach, a great place for picnicking and swimming. Downtown Boulder Junction is the heart of this expansive trail system. There is no fee or trail pass required.

At The Bear Den you can enjoy the ambiance of a Cozy Cabin with all the amenities of home…The Cabin provides comfortable accommodations for up to 5 people; With 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms all on one level. The master bedroom with a king size bed with en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has 1 Full/Double bed and 1 Twin bed. All linens and bath towels are provided for your convenience and a new metal pier was just installed this year.

Sought after amenities include an aluminum 14' fishing boat, private pier with plenty of space for your watercraft. Beautiful view of the lake from screened in porch. Northwoods Getaway
Very much enjoyed the little cabin! Other cabins are right next to each other. Everyone around us was quiet so no problem there but if you’re looking for a secluded place this would not be it. If you have kids this may be a good place for you…. A nice little beach for them to play at, a small playground & a couple of basketball hoops! A rowboat was there for our use as well as one kayak. I would recommend this place if you like all those things.

Charming Cabin w/great views & eagle watching!
We loved our New Year’s Eve weekend visit with our family at this cabin. The cabin has cozy and rustic decor and was in a great location! We enjoyed heading right outside to the dock in the mornings for eagle watching and observing the ice fishermen on the lake. The cabin is centrally located to Boulder Junction which was a fantastic northwoods town with lots of great local restaurants and hiking trails (and snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, & snowmobiling, weather-permitting). The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back to visit again!

Enjoyed our stay with our grandkiddos. Lots of things for the grandkids to do. Nice swim beach, kayaking, campfires and close to area amenities - horseback riding and Boulder Junction parks and events.

Repeat visitor!
We just stayed at the Bear Den for the third time and have already rebooked for next year! It’s an adorable cabin, very clean. The three seasons room is to die for! My husband and I came up for a long weekend getaway and to go fishing. We bring our fishing boat and utilize the dock. The lake is very small and quite with easy access to the larger wild cat lake through a channel. There are close neighbors since the cabin is on a property that was previously a resort, but we’ve visited 3 times and never had noise problems. The lake is full of fish and lots of other wildlife, including an eagles nest. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Very cute cabin
Have not been to the North Woods for 27 years. Believe it or not, everything looks the same. Cabin was very cute, very clean and charming. Couple eagles on lake and a family of loons. Just awesome.

Lovely property
The Bear Den was a tastefully appointed cabin conveniently located on a lovely lake system. Thanks to the owners' thoughtful provision, we were able to enjoy the surprisingly clear waters of Big Kitten and Wildcat Lakes in their kayaks and roomy fishing boat. The town of Boulder Junction was a just a few minutes away for any needed errands or supplies. We were especially delighted to discover Grassy Creek Ranch just a minute away for some wonderful horseback riding with Sonny and Kyle. Bear Den owners Mike and Laura were very kind and made themselves available for any questions we might have and were prompt to respond. We look forward to returning in the future.

Wonderful cabin & great lake
We love staying at the Bear Den! We just finished our second stay and will definitely be back! It’s an adorable, clean cabin with all you need. The screamed porch is my favorite part! While you’re close to your neighbors the trees give the sense of privacy and noise has not been a problem on either of our visits. We bring our fishing boat and it’s wonderful to have our own pier with access to both the small quite Little Kitten lake as well as the much larger Wildcat Lake. The fishing is great and the scenery is beautiful! We can’t wait for our next stay!

Great location for fishing and snowmobiling
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was clean and had everything you would need. The snowmobile trail was right there so we spent time riding the trails in the area! Also spent time ice fishing on the lake and caught 12 northern one day! Thanks for the accommodations!

Just Perfect!
Once stepping inside the cabin, I knew this get away was going to be great! Very well appointed with Northwoods decor, but not over board at all. Very comfy furnishings, and upgraded amenities. View was spectacular and even tho unusually hot I had a great breeze all day and night. This was a very special treat staying at the Bear Den, I really highly recommend it.

Up North Paradise
The cabin will exceed your expectations. The view of the lake, the quaint surrounding towns ,restaurants and bars. True north woods supper club, ice cream adult drinks from the past. ( Marty’s up North ) we have already booked for 2022. Thanks Mike and Laura ! 👍
