Car Rental Oaxaca

When you've visited all of the great attractions in Oaxaca, there's more to explore in the region. Grab the keys to a rental car, stow your luggage in the trunk and get going. Here are some road trips we know you'll love:

• Ensenada is approximately 50 miles from Oaxaca. Top-rated sights like First Street deserve a place on your must-see list while you're in town.
• Situated 95 miles away, Mexicali is also popular with travelers. Make sure you experience Plaza La Gran Via while you're in town. It's one of the reasons people love this buzzing city.
• Get out into the great outdoors and appreciate the serenity at Malecón San Felipe. You'll find it roughly 170 miles from Oaxaca.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Mexico, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or older in most places to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles available to rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the rules and regulations before you drive off the lot. Usually, you can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or on certain types of rugged terrain with your rental car.
