Car Rental Peninsula

When you've been to all of the well-known attractions in Peninsula, there's a lot more to see in the surrounding region. Grab the keys to a rental car, toss your bags in the trunk and hit the road. We've pulled together some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• Make tracks to Montevideo for a fantastic sightseeing experience. About 70 miles from Peninsula, it's home to numerous cool sights such as Centenario Stadium.
• Your next pit stop? Consider Minas, which is around 45 miles away. Parque Salto del Penitente is one local hot spot you shouldn't miss.
• Get out into the great outdoors and breathe in some fresh air at Ferrando Beach. It's about 170 miles from Peninsula.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Uruguay, then you may need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll need to show your current license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some other things to note to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or over in many countries to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the rules and regulations before you drive away. You typically can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or on off-road areas with a rental car.
