Don't let the messy reception area fool you. This is a great place to stay in Kyoto! Fantastic proprietor, large clean room and comfortable beds. It's a great choice for a budget hotel and gives you everything you need for your stay.

As expected, beautiful spacious rooms with a refined and thoughtful local setting on a beautiful garden with the best looking Koi in Japan. Staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. We had to find a driver the night before when our guide cancelled and they found an amazing driver, fluent in English who kindly offered to also be our guide. Japan of course is overflowing with unimaginably courteous, kind and intentional people but still the hotel really helped us make the most of our last minute trip to Kyoto. Gym and pool are a highlight and again all restaurant recommendations were spot on. A very convenient location but tucked away in a serene property of its own. Not cheap but worth it.

One of, if not the top, hotel experience I have ever had. Phenomenal hospitality, and a truly unique and lovely atmosphere. Food was spectacular as well.

Authentic experience with tatami sleep, baths and traditional breakfast. Beautiful gardens, great service. 20 minute walk to more central areas of Kyoto. If you’re going for a few nights of authentic Japanese guesthouse experience- this is your spot. If you’re looking for a hotel where you can quietly read a book in your room in good a/c for a bit, you will find this one uncomfortable

Excellent hotel, room was spacious for our family of 4. It's a 9 minute walk to the nearest subway, 2 grocery stores 5 minutes away and a 7-11 at the corner. On the first day the washer-dryer malfunctioned, the front desk clerk was excellent and came up to do maintenance on it (a pipe was clogged) and after that it worked great. The place is spic and span.
