Excellent stay
The proprietor was very helpful at check in. The room was very comfortable with tea coffee making facilities The restaurant had a great menu. Food was fantastic. Breakfast must not be missed. Excellent stay. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

This little village pub is just that, a village pub. It is well supported by the villagers and people returning home after work were dropping in for a drink and a catch up. The food is very good and reasonably priced. It is a little old fashioned, but the beds are comfortable and the pillows squashy enough to ensure a good night’s sleep. I would stay again if in the area.

The landlord was hospitable. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was ok, but tired. The room was clean. We didn't eat there, having done so earlier in the day, but other people were complementary about the food. We would stay there again.

Had a lovely stay at the bay horse country inn, Thirsk The room was beautiful and spotless, fluffy white towels, and the most amazingly comfortable bed, the host was lovely got there early so we could check in we will definitely be returning as it was the perfect stay highly recommended

Such a lovely and relaxing stay at the Bay Horse Inn! A beautiful location and a very comfortable night’s sleep. Friendly and informative staff were very helpful upon check-in and check-out. I only stayed one night as I was in the area for work, but would definitely return with my family to enjoy a leisure visit and exploring more of the area.

Lovely little old country pub with good selection of evening meals and drinks. Breakfast set you up for the day and was really tasty. Friendly staff and locals and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return.

Outstanding stay
Outstanding stay we went to North Yorkshire Saturday to Monday and the Bay Horse Inn was our base for the weekend and it didn't disappoint. Chris checked us in and was so welcoming he gave us a full run down what we needed to know for our stay. We had full English breakfasts both mornings cooked by Bev and kept us going till late afternoon all served with fresh toast, jam, marmalade and fresh coffee. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable with shower over the bath plenty of towels, shower gel and soap, tea and coffee facilities. The evening meals are all home made by Bev and the menu is superb. The whole experience was excellent, highly recommended. Keep up the good work Chris and Bev.

A truly heartwarming experience!
A very unexpectedly fabulous overnight stay. Excellent homely comfortable Inn with a very rare down to earth welcoming naturalness that’s not easy to find. Wonderful host, Chris, and Team! My trip was got a very sad occasion but this overnight stay was transformative in its uplifting tangent!

It was exactly what it said it was. As long as you appreciate it isnt claiming to be a 5 star hotel for the price everything was clean & tidy. Host was excellent. Food was excellent. Room functional, clean & tidy. Central heating worked fine. Great location, very quiet.

Quiet country inn with great food
5 o'clock check in was my only gripe, but thems the rules. The dinner was excellent and would have fed 4. Lovely lamb shank and my wife's chicken kebabs were very large and tasty. The large breakfast will keep anyone filled until dinner. Good beers at decent prices. Only pub in town, so a favourite with the locals.

Highly recommended!
We had a great stay at the Bay Horse Inn. We enjoyed meeting folks over drafts in the inn's bar, and then had a wonderful meal of Yorkshire steak pie with vegetables and chips. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, too! And parking is easy in the car park behind the inn. The inn is more than 300 years old but very well kept with lots of interesting details. The innkeeper is warm and friendly as are his staff. And his knowledge of the area helped us to have a great time in the Yorkshire Dales the next day!

Great pub!!
Great welcome from Chris. Good atmosphere in the bar. There is a restaurant part but we had our meal in the bar by preference. Well cooked and served meals, real ale and Irish coffee. Comfortable room and good bathroom. Breakfast was fab. -my husband said it was one of the best he had ever had, altogether we had a good stay and would recommend the Bay Horse.

Excellent stopover pub near A1-A168 junction
Bearing in mind this is a country pub, not a 5* hotel, it met all our needs for a one night stop with a good meal. Our room was quiet, comfortable, albeit a bit dated, but had everything we needed. There was a good range of home made food on offer and the portions were more than generous. We would happily stay here again and would (and have) recommend to friends.
