Beautiful Gingerbread Cottage - Spectacular View & Pool

Welcome to Flamboyant Cottage, our gingerbread-cute vacation home on Saba, The Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and private pool, it's a beautiful and relaxing home away from home. The cottage is the perfect base from which to experience Saba's timeless charm. Come experience all the Unspoiled Queen has to offer!

Located in a secluded, private area on Booby Hill just a 12-minute walk up from Windwardside, Flamboyant Cottage is perched 1,500 feet above sea level. The property is situated on the southeast hills of Saba, directly in the trade winds, and the terraces offer spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and the islands of St. Eustatius (Statia), St. Kitts and Nevis.

Flamboyant Cottage's proximity to Windwardside means that you're within easy walking distance to groceries, shopping and several restaurants. To get around the island, taxis are just a phone call away, or better yet, don your hiking shoes and take advantage of Saba's spectacular hiking trails. Saba's dive operations offer excellent service, including transportation from the cottage to the dive boats docked at Fort Bay.

Flamboyant Cottage has two bedrooms (one queen bed, two twin beds), two bathrooms (each with a shower), a fully equipped kitchen, an outside dining gazebo, and tiled terraces leading to a beautiful private pool. The cottage is designed for one or two couples, and can sleep a maximum of four people.

Flamboyant Cottage is our relaxed, quiet, home away from home. If you're looking for a peaceful, restful environment for your vacation, this is the place for you. Days can be spent being as lazy or energetic as you want - you can sit by the pool with a favorite book, spend the day under the Caribbean Sea with one of Saba's local dive shops, or test your physical fitness on Saba's hiking trails. At night you have your choice of relaxing in the cottage's outdoor gazebo with a home cooked meal or walking into Windwardside to sample one of Saba's several restaurants.

Please consider spending your next vacation on Saba at Flamboyant Cottage!

Amazing cottage!
This place was beautiful, so peaceful and the views and pool were perfect. A well appointed kitchen and plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy. Michael was an extremely helpful host coordinating transport easily and even making the occasional dinner reservation for us. Wonderful island, visit if you feel like completely relaxing!

Unique and Quaint and lots of cardio
Saba is unlike any Caribbean island. Quaint, quirky, and quiet and beautiful There is no beaches and very few tourists. It one very very steep mountain that goes into the ocean. This property is located above windward. The village and the house quaint and picturesque. It is great place to relax but there is not fast passed. The property has an amazing view and a pool that’s a little chilly. If you want yo relax, this is a great place. Please note. The hill is very steep. Taxis are expensive considering the distance. So cardio cardio cardio

Lovely way to see Saba
We enjoyed our stay! Michael, the local property manager was tremendously helpful. This is down a very steep hill and most taxis won't drive down it which was a bit of a downside. It is a bit of a physical trek to get down and up walking to Windwardside but boy the view alone is worth it. Everyone must experience Saba at least once! A true diamond in the rough.

The perfect place to relax and recharge
We stayed here for four nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage is very spacious with multiple outdoor areas and a lovely pool. I honestly could have just sat on the front porch and looked out over the water for the entire four days. It was that peaceful. Our local host was very accommodating and assisted us with arranging transportation to and from the ferry. It was great to have some grocery staples on hand when we arrived. The cottage is a bit of a walk from downtown Windwardside with multiple hills. It was definitely a good workout. We never used the TV, but the Wi-Fi signal was good. Saba is an amazing island, full of friendly people, beautiful vistas and challenging hikes. It definitely lives up to its moniker as the Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean. I would not recommend staying here if you are mobility impaired due to the steps and steep inclines. It was quite breezy at the cottage, so I would recommend bringing a sweater despite the warm temperatures.

Perfect in every way
My husband and I spent our honeymoon on Saba in the Flamboyant cottage, and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. All the advice given by the owners was useful and helped us to make great decisions during our stay. Michael and Tricia were friendly and helpful. The pool was amazing on hot days after the long walk up Booby Hill. The view from the house was gorgeous. Other reviews talked about the house being less modern than maybe other houses on the island, but we thought it was charming. It had everything we needed, and there was bread, eggs, cheese and yogurt left for us so we could make some breakfasts at home. They also left a cell phone to call local taxis, which was very helpful. The walk up the hill to and from the house was certainly challenging, but not impossible, and we enjoyed the exercise. Thank you so much - our stay was perfect and we can’t wait to come back!

Clean, Peaceful , great getaway
The cottage is equipped as described. Everything you need is there! The basic supplied food items were greatly appreciated. The pool and deck are great! We spent alot of our time there. The only negative would be that the toilet paper disposal method was not disclosed until we received our check in instructions. That really should be listed on the web page . While it may be considered "normal" in Saba, it really is very much out of the norm for many other places.

My husband and I enjoyed our time at Flamboyant Cottage and the beautiful island of Saba. Very quiet and safe neighborhood. We spent a lot of time outside--hiking, reading and simply soaking in all the views. Highly recommended for a relaxing get-away. Phil & Debbie 12/19

Sublime
Great cottage, spectacular views. Very refreshing pool. Loved walking to town daily. Dove with Sea Saba-great operation. Saba is a very quiet safe place. If you are looking for extravagance and party atmosphere this is not the place for you. If you are looking to really get away from it all and find some peace and tranquility this is the place to do it. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Definitely hike Mt Scenery. The owners, very nicely, provide free walking sticks to use. Go later in the day, the path is very slippery early in the am or after a rain but dries up nicely after the sun hits it for a few hours. The grocery store in town had everything we needed to cook most of our meals. Try Saba Spice. (Be aware If you don't like to walk/hike you will have to take a taxi everywhere which can get expensive so plan ahead. The roads are very hilly and narrow). Enjoy!

Wonderful Location
We just returned from a week on Saba where we stayed at Flamboyant Cottage. The entire experience was great. The communication with the owners was excellent. They are very responsive and helpful. The local caretaker, Michael, was friendly and available, but not at all intrusive. The view out the front door of the ocean, St. Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis is stunning. We already miss the breezes, the quiet nights sitting out front, and breakfast in the gazebo. The property is on a private road in a quiet area, but only a short walk from Windwardside where groceries, shops, and restaurants are available. It’s remarkable how many amazing restaurants are in such a small area on a small island, whether you’re enjoying the lion fish at Brigadoon, a pizza at The Long Haul, appetizers and drinks at The Hideaway, or the eclectic menu at Saba Snack. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, though well-worn. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make a nice breakfast. Saba is not an ideal place to rent a car, so taxis and walking are the way to get around. The house is down a steep hill, and not every taxi driver will drive down. We are in our 50s and in reasonably good shape for our age. While we did fine walking around and hiking, we would find ourselves winded after the short walk to the top of the hill. Saba is a hilly island, so it could be something to consider for those who might have difficulty walking up and down hills every day. Saba is a very safe place, and the locals are very friendly. We aloved how pet-friendly it was. It was very common to see people out with their dogs and in restaurant outdoor seating areas. Whether you’re going to Saba to dive, hike, or relax, Flamboyant Cottage is a great place to stay.

Great stay at the Flamboyant Cottage. Comfortable. Great views.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Cottage is nice size - 2 bedrooms and 2 baths with a nice kitchen and living room and a small pool. It was stocked with a little food on arrival and there was a very helpful local contact. It's on a steep hill so probably not a great choice for someone who can't climb to the top of the hill to get a cab (only 100 metres). Walk to town is only 15 minutes. We did our scuba diving with Sea Saba - also great. Great spot for one or 2 couples.

Exquisite!
Start with one of the most perfect islands in the world. Then, place a wonderful cottage in the most perfect location on that island - Welcome to Flamboyant Cottage, Saba! One doesn't know where to begin when describing how wonderful this place is. The peace and tranquility? The priceless view? The feeling of comfort and "home", that the cottage wraps you in? I had stayed at another location on the island, but Flamboyant exceeded my expectations in every way. It was simply exquisite! Thanks Larry & Sherry!

Unique and Special Caribbean Vacation Spot.
A wonderful place to enjoy the Caribbean in its natural, virtually unspoiled beauty. Hiking, diving, and snorkeling are the primary activities. The cottage is perfect for the setting: comfortable with all the necessities but not over done. You can sit by the pool (about 1500' above the Caribbean) and enjoy the views of St. Eustatius as well as St. Kitts & Nevis. Or, if you wish, take an envigorating 20 minute walk into town (Windwardside) to enjoy some truly exceptional restaurants. Our favorite was "Chez Bubba." Don't let the name fool you, Chef Simon is 5 star quality and the wine room could rival that of any big city restaurant. After 2 days on Saba, you will feel like a local and fit right in. This was one of our most memorable and truly unique vacations. The Flamboyant Cottage is a perfect place to have Saba vacation adventure.

Everything worked fine. The walk into town each day was a chore for me at ages 78 but with a cane ?
The walk was 20 for me. I got the 3 geocaches I was planning. The pool water was a bit too cold for me so I never used it. Michael and Tricia were very helpful. The TV was great. I normally do not use it because I am on the amateur radio most of the time. I had spare time as radio conditions were dead at times. Had nothing to do with this location but atmospheric. The breeze was a blessing as it was a little hot for me but the fans did the trick. The island is the nicest I have experienced in the Caribbean. Great stay.

Roomy, beautiful and comfortable
( I thought I had submitted a review already ... but since I received an email request ..here is another on the assumption that the first got lost) This is an ideal spot on Saba to relax away from it all. My wife and I were there for a week hiking, exploring the island and generally just chilling. The pool was wonderful after a long hike up and around the mountains. (or into town). The property is beautiful, quiet (no traffic) and fairly private. There is no one behind, there are trees between the side neighbor, and the front neighbor across the access road although close,is so much lower down the hill that it does not matter. This may not the best spot if you are unable to walk for any distance as the driveway out and the hill in and out of town are steep.(Think volcano!!). However, this was not a problem for us. The property managers were a phone call away and very friendly and helpful. The house had all the required amenities plus wifi. There was a speaker dock for iPhone (with a iPhone 5 adapter) that was just perfect for streaming music. (but not at night as you want to hear the frogs). If you are diving it is a touch inconvenient being out of town and you may want to co-ordinate with dive shop for taxis etc. or just get up a little earlier and walk. Highly recommended for a Saba stay.

You're Going To Love It Here!!!! Sweet, Sweet Cottage
Just back from our second stay at Flamboyant Cottage (named for the beautiful flowering trees you see on Saba). It is a cute as a button. Perfectly sized for a couple or two couples. It is fully and well stocked with nearly everything you have at home. And it's nice that it's at a reasonable rental rate making it more available for a lot of people. The views are amazing and there is a nice shaded pergola just outside the kitchen 'dutch' door that comfortable seats six. The breezes are delightful. We've only been here early February and it was never too hot to use the pool, but it's great to sit next to while you sunbathe. The only downsize is walking up the considerably steep hill/road where the cottage sits about halfway down. However, you need the exercise anyway!! Plus if you're here to hike on the many trails, you probably won't even mind it. My thighs actually have firmed up a bit. Once at the top of this hill/road, it's only about a 10 minute walk into Windwardside, where most of the action takes place. Food stores, cafes, restaurants, snacks, gift/souvenirs with Saba written on them, and scuba and hike shops. So don't hesitate to make your own memories here. It's nice and quiet and even if you do nothing, this is the place to do it!!! We'll be back again! Alan from Southampton, NY

Superb view, lovely cottage
We had a great time at Flamboyant cottage. Sunrises were beautiful, the neighbourhood is quiet. The cottage has everything you need for a stay and the pool is clean and great for a refreshing 'dip'. The walk from Windwardside is a bit steep here and there. If you have mobility problems, it is good to rent a car. Nice that toilet paper, cheese, water, butter and eggs were provided. Michael, contact person on the island, was very helpful and friendly. We can recommend this stay to anyone.
