Eco-Friendly Hotels
You can sleep easy here
Staying at a lovely hotel is one of the best parts of traveling—especially if you choose a property that is kind to the environment. Whether it’s a glitzy hotel in Vegas or a Brooklyn hotel covered with greenery, you (and your conscience) can sleep well at these U.S. hotels that help preserve and protect the earth.
1. ARIA Resort & Casino, Las Vegas
Located directly on the Las Vegas Strip, it’s hard to miss ARIA Resort & Casino. The sprawling hotel complex features 4,004 spacious rooms and suites, 16 in-house restaurants, three pools, and a huge casino—yet it still manages to keep a small carbon footprint. ARIA is one of the world’s largest buildings to have achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Status from the U.S. Green Building Council, an organization that rates places based on factors like good air quality, water, and energy usage, low maintenance costs, and community impact. Pretty angelic for a hotel smack dab in the middle of Sin City.

Greensboro’s Proximity Hotel is the first U.S. hotel to receive LEED Platinum Status—the highest possible rating—and it’s easy to see why. The property takes part in more than 70+ sustainable practices, including 100 solar panels that provide hot water, a bar made of salvaged walnut trees, ultra-efficient building materials, and bicycles available for guests to discourage unnecessary car use. Add to that a restaurant that uses ingredients from local farmers, and you have yourself one seriously eco-friendly hotel.
