Gave me on my check-in a large, I did appreciate! Asked, 5 wake-up called and receive none in my 5 days! Talked to a front desk, called maintenance and never been fixed. Breakfast buffet, choice of food, nice, but the busses are terrible, not trained properly, cleared a table when you're away pick up food, take your full cup of coffee, juice, and plate with food.

I had a lovely big room with separate sleeping and seating areas with large windows allowing light and views of park opposite. Easy walk into old town.

I could not fault the hotel staff very helpful. The hotel itself is very run down. The room we had was at the back of the hotel which was quite noisy some nights. The room itself has an a joining door only problem was the floor were not carpeted so it was musical chairs most night. They had old rugs down which was slip hazard. No plug in the sink so had to shave with tap running, Lack of towel rail in toilet the one was above the toilet itself. Shower had a lot of cracked tiles and the water leaked under the door. The only take about 5 people at a time if you have cases forget it. We went to breakfast once it was Chaotic and did not bother the rest of the time we stayed here.Riga is a beautiful city full of lovely people it is 10min walk to old town, train station is next door taking a trip to Jurmala is a must and puts U.K. trains too shame always on time. Bolt taxis are easy to order as well we went to the motor museum which is a must for old car lovers. Would I stay at Mercure again I might if they spend a few million on it and carpet every room.
