Isle of Lismore Cheap Vacations

We've stayed in a few 4/5 star hotels and we know that those ratings don't mean a lot but my observations: - Best shower I've ever used by a long shot, and genuinely very clean. - Huge bed, like huge huge - Lots of space etc Now the weird: - pillows were just full of lumps of stuffing, basically the worst pillow I've ever slept on - the bed made up for our 5 y/o son was on a pull out sofa (no probs, they always are) the problem was instead of a duvet / bed sheet, the blanket was a plushy throw & honestly I wasn't convinced it wasn't the sofa throw - had it even been washed. We didn't raise this with the staff as we all just slept in the main bed in the end. - Net curtains were basically disgusting, I think one of the stains was from vomit. How bizarre, it was like genuine luxury mixed with random bits of travel lodge type shenanigans.

Kind and cooperative staff all over the stay. It's location strategic as is close to different means of transport and close to nice city spots. Clean rooms and well equipped, The breakfast was delicious, fresh and a combination of small buffet and table service. Thank you !

The room was clean, big and well equipped. Our room didn’t included a view so we were in front of the hotel machine and vents. For the price, I would expect a garden view or even a parking view. The breakfast included avec a great various choices and the location is perfect for any golfing! Bear in mind that you are about 25min of walk to the village but there is a lot of parking in town. The staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. The pool was great. We couldn’t use the gym because it was in renovation.

Room was great. Food was good, but placing orders was slow. Food arrived promptly though. My biggest problem is your phone system . I tried probably 10- 15 times to call and each time I waited for the 15-20 rings before it cut me off as none was available . The message "Please call back" or similar message came after the timeout period. You must be loosing lots of business by not answering the phone. The only extension that picked up was the golf.

Good large bed and room

The hotel room was clean, spacious with a comfortable bed and very modern appliances-steamer/iron, hairdryer & coffee machine all good spec. Toiletries were generously sized and smelled great. Location ideal for trains, shopping and we weren’t distracted by noise. I’d read in some reviews that there were Tunnocks snacks in the rooms, but we only had crisps. However, the cans of g&t & bottles of lager, plus cans of juice and water were a nice addition. The coffee pods from a local shop were lovely too. Sadly, the stay was seriously impacted by an issue with the hot water. There was none when we returned to our room at night, (lukewarm at best) & although reception quickly acknowledged the issue, and apologised profusely on check out, there was no offer of a partial refund etc, which was disappointing considering I’d purchased that room for the bath, instead of just a shower. The water was hot again eventually in the morning. The touch controls for the shower and bath stuck a bit/required several pushes. We didn’t have breakfast, so can’t comment on that. Overall, some lovely touches in rooms, the same very helpful and friendly reception staff-but felt like we’d slightly overpaid considering the hot water issue.
