Colorado Western Slope Cheap Vacations

This is an older hotel in Vail. Very large property. I think it's a great value for what you get. The property is definitely older, but our room was clean and comfortable. Easy parking which is huge in Vail. Great location as it's right between Vail Village and Lion's Head...you can walk easily to both. Really nice Bar and Grill and what looked to be a pretty yummy Indian restaurant on location. Great pool and jacuzzi. This is one of the better values in Vail I think. We would definitely stay here again. Ask for a room that faces the mountains. The other side has some I-70 traffic noise.

From the first phone call here, we were disappointed. I called to ask if we could check in maybe 35 minutes early. We had been riding bikes outside in the rain and were freezing cold and muddy; the answer was a flat no, that the rooms were still being cleaned. Check out is at 10 AM and check-in is at 4 p.m. That is more than enough time to clean rooms, and even if our specific room wasn’t ready, I’m guessing another one of the same type was within 35 minutes of check-in. I used to work front desk at a hotel, and I’m aware of how these things work. I wasn’t asking to check in at some obnoxious time before the posted time. Which, by the way, this hotel already has a two hour later check-in and two hour earlier check out then most hotels! When we finally got to our room, the disappointment only grew. I don’t expect much out of a two star hotel, and all we really needed was a bed for the night. However, one thing I do expect is a clean bed and bathroom. The towels had hair stuck to them, the sheets had stains on them, the shower curtain had several stains, there was a dirty cup left by the sink, the carpets were stained, and I could go on and on. It was gross. I don’t care if a hotel has the newest furnishings, but it does need to be clean. It also reeked of marijuana throughout the entire hotel. I’m pretty sure the front desk person smoked a few bowls right before we arrived. Plus no coffee in room or lobby at all. The state of this whole stay was absolutely abhorrent.
