Santa Rosa Island Cheap Vacations

I booked a room at The Island Resort in Fort Walton Beach from Thursday through Sunday for my son’s 8th birthday. We planned to drive overnight and arrive Friday morning, so I paid for Thursday night to have access to our room when we arrived instead of waiting until the 4 p.m. check-in. A week before the trip, I called the hotel to confirm that arriving Friday morning would be okay. I was told there would be no issue. The person I spoke with also told me about the resort wristbands, and we were excited for our stay. When we arrived Friday morning, we were told our room had been given away because we were considered a no-show. I was so upset. I spoke with the assistant manager, who asked who I had talked to on the phone. I usually get a name, but this time I relied on the hotel staff’s assurance. Apparently, there was no note on our reservation about the call. The assistant manager told us to contact Expedia so they could call the hotel and arrange a refund. I appreciated her help with that, but we were now in Fort Walton Beach without a room. Trying to find another hotel at the last minute was overwhelming, especially when this trip was supposed to be a celebration for my son.
