Property is in desperate need of a renovation. The bathroom appears to be about 50 years old. The room had an overwhelming fragrance that smelled like baby powder that made me think they were trying to cover an unpleasant odor. There were food crumbs beside the bed, so the room clearly hadn't been vacuumed. The staff we encountered were friendly and that was the only redeeming quality.

This is my favorite hotel. I land on the way in and on the way out. There are beautiful hotels, and then there are hotels that become part of your relationship with a city. For me, the Esplanade is Zagreb. Every time I return, there is an immediate feeling of being somewhere special and familiar. The history, architecture, rooms, food, and incredible location are all exceptional, but it is the people who make this hotel what it is. The warmth and genuine Croatian hospitality never feel scripted. You feel welcomed, remembered, and cared for. I have been fortunate to stay at some of the best luxury hotels around the world, and the Esplanade continues to hold its own among them. There is an old-world elegance here that is increasingly difficult to find—grand and sophisticated, but still deeply personal. Croatia is very special to me, and returning to Zagreb always carries meaning. Having the Esplanade be part of that experience makes it even more memorable. This isn’t simply a hotel I recommend. It’s a hotel I genuinely love returning to, and one that feels inseparable from Zagreb itself. An icon, and deservedly so.

Creo que de los hoteles en los que estuve en este viaje fue “un most”, muy bueno. Empezaré desde el primer día porque ya estamos de vuelta después de recorrer Adriatico y Balcanes durante 11 días y volvería de nuevo sin duda. Mirna y Helena hicieron fácil nuestro check in y el acomodamiento. Excelentes igual que las personas de apoyo en la recepción. La ubicación a 100 metros de la Plaza Mayor y muy cerca de excelentes restaurantes como Fotić donde Nicola nos atendió de película y la comida de primera.

Everyone can hear everything coming from the bathroom… if you know what I mean. TV also doesn’t really work when you try to connect. The lighting and switches is kind of annoying, but a fun game to play nonetheless..

It was a great room and the breakfast was an experience! Really great stay.

Absolutely lovely beautifully decorated basement apartment in a quiet part of the city but with easy reach of the city centre. The apartment had everything you would need, a bit like being at home to be honest. Only complaint was the walkway around the property to the garden terrace was overgrown and full of litter. Not sure who in the apartment block is responsible for keeping the grass down but it was an irritation as we frequented the terrace quite a lot. Other than that it’s a brilliant place to stay. Highly recommend.

We would definitely stay here again.
