Sovereign Island Romantic Vacations

Only slight issue we had was that the A/C didn't work (No power) It was a little cool one night and we want a bit of heat. No big issue. Had we stayed over the summer months it would have been a problem.

Booked a week out and got a very reasonable price especially given proximity to beachfront. Was pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade on check-in to a two bedroom apartment with a lovely sea view from the balcony and main bedroom. Jane checked me in and was very helpful and friendly. I had a small suv rental car and my allocated carpark was a tight squeeze next to a pole, but luckily no one parked on one side of me which was a relief! Could be tricky for nervous drivers or larger vehicles. Location is perfect with an easy walk along beachfront to either Broadbeach one way or Surfers the other. There is also a local convenience store close by for any essentials if you don’t have time to travel further and a BWS within a 10min walk also.

The room was clean inside except for the ensuite which had water leaking from the toilet ,running accross the floor. The pool and balcony area were filthy. The pool was cold in spite of there being a pool heater which wasn't operational. When we complained about it to Q Stay( they mange the apartment on behalf of a private owner) they said the pool is not advertised as being heated. Q Stay said they would send house keeping to clean inside but not outside. House keeping didn't come during our stay. Soul management could help because it is a privately owned apartment. It seems the owner is probably to tight to spend on cleaning and maintenance.

Outstanding location, outstanding views (was on the 17th floor). Lots of construction going on around site but thats typical Gold Coast to be fair and made for interesting looking on from room. Apartment we were in was getting a little tired but didn't detract from the whole experience.. Would stay there again definately

We stayed for 1 night and paid for car park as well as late check out. It was worth it as the place was well maintained and 2min walk to the main heart of Surfers. The communication with Maria was spot on. Highly recommended and will definitely stay there again.

I really enjoyed the spacious rooms and the beautiful beach location.

There were a few negatives unfortunately. Our apartment had 2 locked off areas, thus misrepresenting the SqM size of the room given this space was unavailable. I have stayed at apartments quoted with similar size and they have felt much more spacious than a small living area and bedroom only. Other somewhat minor inconveniences - our balcony was inaccessible from the living area, only the access via the bedroom door unlocked. There were no complimentary items such as bottled water provided in the mini bar. The air con was difficult to control temperature wise with only very warm or very cool settings easy to obtain. Communication wise, my original requests and preferences were never replied to or honoured/considered. Positives - the lobby and hotel generally are very modern and clean and felt premium. Also the view from the balcony was outstanding and to be expected when paying higher end pricing. Bathroom and in room spa were also very enjoyable, however I am surprised so many places are going with tubs now rather than proper spa baths. In short, I'd be unlikely to stay again unless a significantly reduced price presented on special. I believe other hotels such as Q1, Hilton and Mantra present a better overall experience at the current price bracket.

Was horrible from the instance we arrived at the door. Used underpants from previous tenants. The apartment seemed like it wasn't even cleaned at all from the cleaners. Mouldy bowls, hair in the shower, bobby pins everywhere throughout the apartment. Loads of dust. Ensuite sink was blocked and couldn't use it. Also, the front door was wide open when we arrived. I did call on the first day. Regarding the Toilet and toilet paper holder, and cleanliness. And requested it to be fixed as we have little kids, none other it's a hygiene matter and pretty gross. The lady (can't remember her name) said it was broken previous tenants and said it couldn't be fixed. I asked for another room. But she said everything was booked. We were pretty pissed off. And almost inclined of changing hotels. As a consumer i would expect that the facilities. Would be in all forms of hygiene and working order. When you have people book your rooms
