This place is gem, beautiful clean rooms with all the amenities and a building with so much character. You just need to walk down the steps to immerse in the beauty of Salzburg. But the best part of the trip was Ulrike, who makes this place run beautifully and she does it with so much joy! She definitely gives the place its vibe by being so welcoming and helpful! On the way to Salzburg from Munich, something was wrong with the train that everyone had to get off and figured out our own transportation. Upon arrival at Hotel Stein, my friend and I were hot, exhausted and a bit disheveled. Alexander at the front desk greeted us with ultimate comfort and hospitality. He offered us prosecco (which calmed our nerves) and Mozart chocolates (which cheered our mood significantly), gave us wonderful suggestions of what to do in Salzburg and was just so personable. Over the three days we were there, the most impressive was the professionalism of the staff. The location was superb as well. In the heart of Salzburg, it was easy to walk everywhere but you don’t hear any street noise while inside. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was clean and tidy; the staff were very friendly; our room had everything we needed; the shower was particularly good; there was plenty of very nice food at breakfast. We liked very much that the hotel gives a €5 voucher for any day you don’t have your room cleaned. This could then be spent in the bar or restaurant - what a great idea! The hotel is in a good location, handy for trains and many bus lines. Our room overlooked the street which was a bit noisy with the windows open; but once they were shut we couldn’t hear anything. The extra tax that the city charges (currently 50c per person per night) to then provide a Guest Mobility ticket was fabulous. We got the train to Werfen and Zell am See; the bus to Bad Ischl and Hellbrunn Palace; and various buses and trams round the city and it cost us nothing at all with our Guest Mobility ticket. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone planning to visit Salzburg.

We had a lovely, large room with a very large bathroom. Location was great and close to Mirabell Palace and bus stops. Wonderful staff and tasty coffee in the lounge, and we were even provided with a parting gift of snacks and water upon checking out! Excellent hotel.

Boutiquehotel Amadeus was good, but not great. The biggest positive is the wonderful central location, and the rooms are quite large — the larger of our two rooms had plenty of space for a crib. However, the layout was strange: you entered directly into the first room, which was dominated by a very large bed, and then had to walk through that bedroom to reach the larger room. It was also very hot, even with two fans running. Breakfast was extremely basic — essentially yogurt and a few pastries — so we ended up skipping it each morning. The biggest issue for us was access and check-in, particularly for a family arriving by car on a longer road trip. We arrived after 8pm when there was no one at the front desk, which made check-in unnecessarily difficult. Cars cannot normally pull up to the hotel and the parking is a few blocks away, so my husband had to make multiple trips with all of our luggage and the kids. We had read in a review that it was possible to drive up to unload, but the desk agent was unable to get the street barriers to lower using his codes. This experience alone made us regret choosing the hotel. Ultimately, the excellent location and generous room size made the stay work, but I wouldn’t recommend it to friends traveling with children and luggage, primarily because of how difficult it was to check in and get our bags in and out.
