I was surprised to learn the hotel was recently renovated - it was a bit tired in some places worn carpet). Reasonably clean but some dust in the corners. Probably the biggest issue was the thin walls - our neighbors were up talking loudly until 2 am and it felt like they were in our room. For the cost we paid, it was annoying.

Directions and parking instructions (to their on-site, underground parking garage) were accurate. Texting with the owner of apartment unit was efficient and responsive. Unit was small - as sq footage reflected - but was very clean, and was perfect for our in-and-out one night stay for a football game. I asked if early check in was available as we arrived 3 hours before 4pm check-in. I was told yes, but for a $35 fee. Was disappointed that the room was available and clean, but had to pay to access it to drop off our bags. Felt the hospitality aspect of that was lacking, where you wouldn’t get that response at a “normal” hotel. Definitely would stay here again - if we weren’t planning on spending any time in the room, and were planning on being out and about enjoying Ann Arbor the entire time.

Excellent stay at the Frederick Stearns hotel in Detroit. Beautiful renovation with free parking. Large suite style room and bathroom. Very close to Riverfront and the downtown.

The property needs some attention, we have stayed here several times but it may be time for some touch ups (scuffed walls, dirty rugs, broken furniture, etc). we as a group had three different rooms and we all agreed great location but property just needs a little TLC. Also our dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and one of us slept on couch but they only had two fitted sheets and a pillow (no case or blanket). The worst was when we were trying to get into our room they now have digital keys, and half the time we all struggled to get into room and had to call front desk. annoying!! However staff was very helpful and I’m guessing it’s annoying to them as well.
