OK, so it's a real prison. And we were staying off-season, and by chance we were the only guests there that night... and the check-in was all automatic. So the whole thing was kind of surreal as we walked around the prison yard, reading the signs about historic prison life etc. You REALLY get the vibe of being in an old gaol, so don't stay there if you're going to get freaked out by things like that. The room configuration was good for us, two bid beds with a semi-divided room. The gentleman at the front desk was helpful and pleasant to chat with. The room smelled good when we first arrived, but there were flies in our room. No bathtub, shower only. Wifi was free for the first half hour, but then we had to pay for additional usage. Small fee, but my code expired before I could use it - waited until morning and it was already expired. When we could connect, the wifi was slow and you couldn't...
